Ive noticed alot of people saying they think Andy was robbed (like we've not heard that after a reality final before). As much as I like Andy as a person and as good a singer as he is, he isn't a popstar. He wouldn't appeal to the teen and twentysomethings who buy the majority of records in this country. I can only assume it was the, ahem more "mature" female viewers who have kept him in the competition this long because although he peformed well last night he's been very ropey over the past few weeks and was almost knocked out a fortnight ago.

Its pretty ludicrous that he beat Journey South, they have been consistent throughout the series.

Look I know Dwayne fans can be a little thick without their juice in the mornings, but X Factor is not just about teenyboppers. Its not pop idol. So why the **** does it matter if Andy wouldn't be a pop star. He would sell records to a far more afluent deomogrpahic than teenage lassies

Shayne was beaten hands down by Andy last night in a singing contest. If Cowell wants Pop Idol mark two he should stop lying to the public who saw in X Factor something more than "pick this week's pretty boy."

Cowell shafted the country last night with his bias at key stages and he won Dwayne the competition. End of.

Calm down! Its only a TV show

Im not thick, nor am I a teenager. I actually wanted Maria to win at first, and up until last night was undecided as to which of the three should bag it. It was Shayne's version of Somewhere over the Rainbow that did it for me. Sensational!

Its interesting its the fella's who have got their noses put out of joint. Would you all be moaning if it was a sexy blonde in a skimpy costume who won?

Listen I want fair play. And not being into blondes it wouldn't sway me. It's a moot point anyway since teenage girls always vote off the pretty girls. Maria was out not because of Louis, but because the voting demographic didn't back her.

The show last night was manipulated, The best guy on the night lost. Why did Cowell not tell Andy he had the X Factor after his barnstorming rendition of O Holy Night. It was equally as good if not better than Dwayne's OTR. I'll tell you why, his comments were claculated to give Shayne the advantage. As was the choice of song, as was Shayne going last after EVERY round.

Fix fixity fix! I couldn't give a rat's ass if it was a pretty girl, I can't stand watching a show for 4 months and having fair play thrown out the window at the key stage just to guarantee a result. It's a disgrace.

Keep believing. Simon is God!

Shayne really does have the X Factor. Buy the single! It wasn't a fix.

Did anyone actually like any of Shayne's performances apart from 'somewhere over the rainbow'? That song seems to be the boys one and only saving grace. I didn't like any of the others and I loved Andy's last three songs.

I loved ALL of Shayne's performances.

I'm in my mid-30s and Andy's style of music doesn't appeal to me at all. I think Shayne is sensational, though!

The moral of the tale is that not all women over 30 prefer Andy and not all Shayne's fans are teens!

Actually, although teens buy the majority of singles in the UK, the vast majority of albums are bought by the over 30s, which would be Andys target audience.

Also, singles dont make money for the record label, albums do.

Exactimondo, which is why by this time next year Shayne will be yesterday's news.

There isn't a sane person over 15 who would seriously want an album full of squeaks.

im 21 and im a female and I voted for Andy last night.
I think hes as likely to have gone done the "steve B" route as Shayne is to go down the Gareth Gates route

Simon is an asshole and i think it's a joke people take him so seriously. He did the same thing on the American Idol final too, he told Bo Bice that it was a pleasure to have him on the show but that the american public would make the right decision and vote for Carrie to win.
What's the point in even having a competition if it's always Simons favourites that win?

You don't know Andy would have been Steve.

Firstly Andy has more soul in his little finegr then Brookstein.

Secondly all judges likes Andy unlike Brookstein.

Thirdly Steve was an absolute bighead and arrogant git,Andy is genuine.

They are nothing alike.Just because they are both over 30 and both have soul voices dosn't mean a thing.

I don't even like Andy!

But Simon being the ''professional'' person he so loves to say he is shouldn't make comments like that. He knows a lot of people love him and listen to what he says so he shouldn't be so biased.
I was watching the American Idol final and he was driving me nuts with all his comments to Bo Bice like '' you r good but tonight the american public will make the right decision'' and then his comments to Carrie '' You should and u will win this competition'' . I just think it's very unfair on the other contestants that's all.

I watched the repeat of the final again this morning. I am at a loss about everyone saying that Andy won the *singing* contest. He has a very different type of voice to Shayne, but it isn't better in my opinion. Shayne has gone through this series without singing a note out of tune, and I have loved all his appearances. I loved that he was brave enough to do songs by the Darkness and Scissor Sisters as well as the boy band type ballads. Andy has been extremely weak on some songs, and was criticised several time by the judges. Andy is the one trick pony of the two, and I would rather listen to the originals of the songs he sang - we need to look forward in music, and not just rehash things that have been done thousands of times already. How many more versions do we need of When a Man Loves a Woman, for instance?

Shayne is really talented, and I wish him every success. I'll buy his single and album, and I would never have bought anything by Andy or Journey South. It wouldn't even have occurred to me. I do hope that they get deals, though, for the sake of their many fans, and because they are nice guys.
