I am amazed people STILL don't get how it works - Shayne prolly won't even see much cash from the million deal on offer - private jets, travel and hotel expenses, video shoots, recording studio, website costs etc it all comes out of Shayne's "winnings"... he'll have to sell a lot of records to even start to make money.
And yes, Simon wins overall - I don't really see WHY he should be bothered WHO wins - it's the same result really. x |

What surprises me is how OFCOM continue to allow ONE COMPANY/PERSON - SYCO & Mr Cowell to make so much money out of one programme and to hold so much control.
They will get paid for the Programme from ITV - they will take the money from the voting! - they hold the record contract for the Winner and have options on others - okay Louis will get his Management fees, but I wonder if SYCO/Cowell want a share of that as well and merchandise and concert fees??????? If you think about it, Cowell is the ONLY winner out of everyone involved, including Sharon and Louis who just keep screwing up their reputation more and more with every appearance they make on the show. Meanwhile, Simon sits there cool as you like, raking in the profits from this monster he has created (well, not created, adapted from previous shows).
Also, he knows that next year he'll be managing the 16-24s, so it doesn't matter one jot that he was lumbered with Addiktif Laydiz (or whatever), JS and the Bulls**t Sisters this time. Sharon will never win the X-factor now because she has the groups next year. It's between Simon and Louis. But again, they'll probably push for the younger singer to win unless they want another farce like Steve winning. Shayne had the best chance of a career, despite Andy being a great singer, which is why the result ended up being swayed in Shayne's favour (Simon's 'X-factor' comments, Louis' 'there's only one star', the crying etc.). The X-factor started out with the idea that they could potentially get a different singer to the top. Perhaps this has succeeded with one case - G4, but for some reason they just don't count... But with Steve it was just a lost cause. Simon just wanted to win the X-factor last year for his own ego, it didn't matter if Steve was crap. But it must have hit them that they needed a bland Take That/sub-Justin/sub-Robbie hybrid to win this year because they were pissed that Steve sold no records. White male UK solo artists don't do too well unless they're named Robbie (shut it all you Daniel Bedingfield fans...), so this is what they're pushing Shayne as, despite him having a tenth of Robbie's talent and charisma. There. |

Shane doesn't have an X Factor...
He can sing, not brilliant, and not the best singer in the comp. He has no personality, charisma and the only appeal other than his voice is perhaps a sex appeal. When he was first on the show my wife thought he was quite fit, but as we ( the viewers ) got to know him, she changed her mind. Shane - No X Factor... Steve ShoeShine - No X Factor... (pity votes won it for him) Michelle Mcmassive - No X Factor... (pity votes) One True Voice -- Really !!! Hear'say -- No chance .... Will Young - A real star and talent... 1 from 6 (Have I missed anything?) These shows have given us nothing apart from tabloid newspaper material and a laugh on Saturday night. I will look forward to seeing SyCo's 'Gong Show' but please no more XFactor/Pop idols.. |

I think some people are not correctly informed.
Despite the fact that Simon does have a stake, this is a joint venture between Simon and Sony BMG. Even so, it is not just them that eat into profits, its a massive production with huge costs. Shayne will be better off than when he was selling shoes and his future will be secure....so whats the problem. Simon makes more than Shayne....well of course, why shouldnt he. But noone is being exploited, viewers or contestents. |

And the thing about Will of course is that he represents a failure of Cowell/Producers/whoever to get the winner they wanted (Gareth Gates), yet he is the only truly successful winner, and that really is ironic.
