Are your opinions swayed by forum members?

Just as a matter of interest how do people feel there opinion of the HM are influenced on here? I only ask because until I started browsing here I had very firm opinions:

Alex : annoyed the hell out of me

Kate: Nice girl - sweet

Jade: Irritating at times but quite endearing

Johnny: Funny guy very genuine but a bit morose at times.

Now before all the Johnny haters jump on that, don't bother...That was my opinion from MY viewpoint.
I still hold the same opinions - although now at times I sometimes doubt Johnnies motives. I think the hysterical rantings of some johnny haters/alex lovers on here are WAY over the top in seeing things that just aren't there! Still good job in planting some seeds of doubt.
Just a thought what does anyone else think?

P.S If anyone has seen my post's on here I would just like to state my Admin Edit post is very misleading _ i did NOT seriously suggest burning Alex but the way the following posts read you would get that impression! At risk of further censor I only made a reference to rubbing Alex's "stick thin" legs together to make a fire! OK justification over - over to you!

Sometimes, like I never liked Jonny very much, but he comes out in a much better light after reading some of the hysterical anti-Jonny rantings on this board

I think my mind has been changed about Johnny because of the little seeds of doubt some of the forum members put in my head.

I almost wish I'd never started reading the forum as at least I'd be sure I'd made my own mind up rather than have it made for me.

To keep a balance I ask my hubby from time to time what he thinks, as he hasn't read the posts on here so I like his opinions as an unbiased person. People on here get very entrenched in their views and I get the feeling they aren't seeing the whole picture because of it.

I'd love to be able to not read the forum at all, but I'm afraid it's addictive as watching BB3... if not more so.

No, my opinions haven't been changed altho' they might be fuelled/reassured by reading some posts, depending on the poster.

I thought I was alone in my dislike for Jonny, until I read the forums. I also couldn't really put my finger on what it was that annoyed me about him... until I read these forums.

I always wanted Alex and Sandy to do well though. SInce Sandy left, it's been Alex to win.

My opinions have never been swayed by forums because I have 24/7 coverage so can see it all for myself.

I do think though that those who only have the highlights on C4 will be learning a lot more and realising that things are not necessarily as they are edited. Have noticed that C4 only watchers tend to want Jonny to win and E4 swing towards Alex.

I used to like Jonny but changed my mind as time went on and through reading these posts realised many people thought the same as me.
I have never liked Kate from the moment she started playing with the men. liking Alex then going off him cos he wasnt interested......clutching at Spencer.....letting all the guys know of her lesbian experiences.....etc etc.......definitely a player of guys.
Jade.......I have mixed opinions on......one minute i like her, the next i dont. This forum doesnt change my mind for me but it does let me know things that are happening that i havent seen.
Ive always liked Alex.

Yes - I have been influenced to see Jade in a slightly kinder light although I still would never, ever vote for her.

I also think more highly than ever of Kate.

My opinion of the blokes hasn't changed at all except insofar as I have been alienated by the behaviour of some of their supporters. Maybe it's a boy's games thing?

Nearly, I was starting to think that maybe there was something up with the bloke. But after the message task there was a raft of post saying that Jonny had talked all over the messages. I had taped that show, which was live and un-edited btw, so I watched it again. The posts were NOT true, he hadn't talked over anyones message.

Then I realised that some people just see/hear what they want to see/hear. Others are spreading rumours and mis-information. The power of suggestion is a powerful propaganda weapon and its being used on here, alot. Stare at the static on a TV set long enough and you'll see shapes moving around.

Think about it people. Make your own mind up. Don't have it made up for you.

My opinion has not been swayed exactly but things that I have thought have been confirmed or things that I might not have seen have been brought to my attention. When I came on the forum I liked Alex, quite liked Jade, didn't like Johnny but couldn't articulate why, Kate, I am still not sure about. My other favourite was Spencer - although I think he has given a poor showing since being out of the House. I quite liked Lynne, would liked to have seen more of her.

Since being on the forum my opinion on Alex is the same, still quite like Jade (because she is "warts and all"), Johnny I have learnt why I don't like him, Kate still unsure about.

Find the forum fascinating though - great to have different viewpoints (whatever they are, biased or not). This may be because I am at home all day and do not have work-mates to discuss with.

Last year I was not on the forum and liked Narinder and Brian early on, then really liked Paul and Helen. Wanted Helen to win over Brian.

I think I was going on gut instict last year. This year I think I am having my gut instinct confirmed by other members.

I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now. Previously I was using the AOL boards, but it seems to be mostly kids there, so finding this site was great!

I also have 24/7 coverage via digital E4 and watch it pretty much all day, as I am pretty much bed-ridden, so I have seen most of what has gone on!

You may be surprised then to know that I am a Jonny/Kate fan! I dont think that they are "playing up to the cameras" at all. I think they are just amusing themselves in a very boring atmosphere.

When I was about their age I lived in a place near to Cambridge, but in the middle of nowhere, no public transport to speak of, no local amenities apart from a pub that we didnt use. We were also not television watchers or computer users (early 80's).

My friends and I used to amuse ourselves, acting like fools sometimes, made things (arty stuff), played on playgrounds at night when no-one was looking, etc etc. I think if we were stuck somewhere like the BB house, we would have been doing exactly what they have been doing - anything to have a laugh and have fun.

So, no, my opinions have not been changed by reading the (quite frankly) obsessive posts that are anti-jonny etc. I read them of course, but wonder why they feel the need to put down someone so much.

I would think that if they spent their time pointing out the GOOD points of their favourite HM instead of the bad points of their least favourite, that their posts might be looked at with more credibility.

At the end of the day some of the posts I read on here reflect more poorly on the poster than on the HM they are writing about.

I would actually advise them to even concede an occasional bad point in their favourite HM but I don't think influencing people is their bag so much as getting brownie points with their respective gangs!

Anyway well said Marie!

My opinions are not swayed, but my support of certain HM's becomes strengthened when I see unjustified criticisms of them. This mainly applies to Jonny for obvious reasons, but also Jade. In her case im fearful of the reaction she'll get in the real world judging by some of the extremely cruel comments in here, which has probably resulted in me becoming more sympathetic to her.

Agree with your point about some of the posts reflecting more poorly on the poster than the HM - but this does work both ways (ie not just anti-Johnny posters). Personally, I try to point out the good points of Alex and Jade or talk about their bad points. I don't find it surprising at all that you prefer Johnny or anybody else because we are all different (wouldn't it be boring if we werent). BTW, reason I prefer Alex and Jade to Johnny and Kate is that I see them as being real "warts and all people" whereas, personally, I perceive Johnny (not sure about Kate) as not being himself. I think it takes guts to go on BB and be yourself. Obviously, any criticism you then receive is very personal. Not sure I would be able to do it.

If I am honest I have to say that when I read this forum and others like it, do put seeds of doubt in to my mind, to rethink my opinions of certain Housemates. But then some of the negative posts which contain foul language etc who is die hard fan of a certain Housemate can put me off voting for the individual,

I think to be classed as a Geordie you have to be born on Tyneside, which rules me out. I guess I'd be classed as a Northumbrian.

I don't think that any of the threads on here have influenced my views on the HM's that much. What does influence me is the housemates themselves, and their behavior. I couldn't stand Alex in the beginning, but when he started to come out of his shell a bit, I found him funny, and usually kind to the others. Recently I've thought he's reverted to whinging too much and has become boring, so I like him less. Plus the vicious rant at Jade did him no favours, although I can agree with a lot of what he said, he should have been way more diplomatic.

Maybe some posts on here have given me information which could influence my view, like things I hadn't seen/heard.
