X Factor Is Good Telly. End of Story
I've just watched the X factor final again on ITV2 after myself and my whole family were entranced by it last night. So afterwards I thought I'd come on this forum one last time before it dies down until the next series. And some of the comments are unbelievable.
For what it is worth I thought the final was absolutely fantastic. At least 2 of the 3 who were in it would not have been my choice as I was horrified when Maria was booted out, and I also loved Brenda. (Only Shane would have been in my top 3 from last night's pick). But, ignoring my personal faves, the final 3 put on a bloody fantastic couple of hours entertainment on a Saturday night, and isn't that what it is all about. In this day and age it is not often that families can share a common interest, not often that all the family is interested in the same show, and not often that a show can provoke lively banter between all of them. That's what this show does. But for God's sake, don't take it too seriously. They all knew what they were taking part in, they all will make a few bob out of it with the tour next year, and if any of them are good enough they will go on to make a career. There are 6 of us our house, and we were all transfixed all night. That is what Saturday night entertainment should be about. I am thrilled for Shayne that he won it and personally think that he has the best chance of them all to have a career. We all thought that the rendition of OTR won it for him - it blew us away. So, I then come on here and see comments like:- 'Worst Final Ever' Conspirary Theory bla bla bla. Simon's cynical comments bla bla bla. and I just think that some people need to take a pill. Look, every rational person knows that :- 1. Simon Cowell's company makes the programme, 2. That Simon Cowell's Label will make money out of the winner 3. That perhaps there is a fair chance that the winner will only last as long as a pizza 4. And that there was more than 1% in it, and it was a shameless attempt at making people vote more. But it's just entertainment folks. And bloody good entertainment at that. We are addicted and can't wait for the next series, be it XF, or Pop Idol or whatever. And if some of you really hate it that much, why the hell do you watch. Call me an easily pleased, sheep like, lemming member of the great British Public if you will. My mate thinks it is candy floss for the masses. But I just think it is what it is meant to be - Good family entertainment. Some of you lot need to get a grip.
