No clock in standby on 9200T
bcutts
19-12-2005
I've just purchased a 9200T but I have noticed that the clock is not displayed when the unit is in standby. All I get is --:--.

This in itself is no big deal but a side effect ssems to be that the unit does not come out of standby to perform a timed recording which is a big problem. The only way I can get it to carry out scheduled recordings is if I leave it on.

Am I correct in thinking that this is not normal behaviour?

I set up the 9200T on Saturday so it has been on for some considerable time and still no joy. I think the clock is running since the : is flashing and if I perform a default setup of the box with no antenna connected, the clock starts at 12:00 and runs when the box is switched on.

At least from what you say it seems that the unit should show a clock.

Your unit is faulty, the clock should show in the display when in standby, so return it as soon as possible.

I have this problem, occasionally.

Normally fine.

e-mail from Humax suggested new software from website should fix

Have not downloaded it yet as on my machine only happens occasionally

Thanks to all of you for the feedback and confirming my suspicions.

I tried loading the latest software update but this has failed to fix the problem so I've contacted the supplier and they have agreed to swap it.

Just hope there isn't a problem with the replacement as we'll be up the creek if it's broken over Christmas!

If you mean the display shows four dashes in standby, then yes the unit is faulty (it is a problem with the CMOS clock that keeps time in standby). Get it replaced or repaired.

Do I just email them with the problem? Which information should I include?

Ringing up Humax support is the best way forward. I somehow don't think they will be answering the phones today! The box will be OK if you just leave it on all the time until you can get it fixed. If you go via Humax you will have the option of having your box fixed (but you will be without the box for a while) or having an exchange box.
