I can imagine that Rose might feel a little jealous over SJS - particularly as she was the one 'who went before.'

But I would have thought 'hate' was too strong a word for it and would put it down to over-egged reporting.

I suspect that the 'hatred' will wear off a bit when they get to know each other. I'm really looking forward to this episode. even David Tennant said he felt a frisson of excitement when Lis Sladen delivered her lines at the read-through.

I thought the 'relationship' issues in the last series helped to make it the tour-de-force that it was - but I have no wish to see them overdone and turn DW into a soap.

nor me !

i soon got bored of roses family
and mickey turning up

the doc needs only one assistant,
not the whole family and friends

its better that way !

As the relationship can only be explored so far.no hanky panky aboard the TARDIS...we already know that they have a high regard for one another so perhaps if the rumours are true that
Spoiler
Rose leaves at the end of the series
it is for the best.

"When Rose meets Sarah Jane, she just hates her, she HATES her and i would frankly, i hate meeting ex girlfriends/timetravellers. Anything to do with the EX is just awful. She feels like shes lost the doctor once before and when you feel like youv lost something you become very..possesive in a way and she dosnt wanna lose him again and she becomes - yeah the possesive girlfriend, this is a threat to her when she meets Sarah Jane. What if he was in love with her ?, what if hes took this girl of traveling with him ?, what if shes a better time traveller, what if she can pull out all the stops, what if she can sing dance and juggle all at the same time?. You know its all very scary for Rose but then Sarah Jane is equally as jealous and they are both...yeah there is some serious bitch fighting in there"

Rose seems to give out very mixed signals. In EOTW she is happy for The Doctor to go off with Jabe but yet in POTW she was giving poor old Linda daggers when she thought she was a bit too chummy with him.

Perhaps RTD is leading us up a path where as this relationship cannot develop physically there is not going to be a happy ending if and when Rose does leave the TARDIS.

That's understandable though, in EOTW she'd only just met the Doctor, she'd only just met him, she's still thinking about just going home, in POTW she's been travelling with him for months and he's her best friend.

Not really mixed signals, just she knows him a lot better and she's a lot closer to him at the end of the season than she was at the beginning.

There was a similar problem between Ace and the Brigadier in Battlefield. The Brigadier made a few comments about Ace being ' the latest' of a long line of young women that the Doctor travelled with and Ace hated him from that moment onwards.

I imagine/hope Sarah and Rose will be best mates by the end of the episode. It's a shame, really, that it is only a single episode.

Do you think the Doctor would get jealous if Chris Evans turned up in one episode?

There was a rumour that he will - playing the devil iirc.

Can't remember if it was ever confirmed though.

Do you want everyone to stop watching DW?

You know thats something never explored in DW... in the real world if a 900 year old guy started going around with some young slip of a girl barely out of her teens, lots of eyebrows would be raised, not to mention mutterings in the background... and its not the first time its happened (Ace, Tegan, Nyssa, Sarah Jane, Jo... et al)....

In the real world there would be no such thing as a 900 year old guy, surely?

I don't see why the age difference should matter anyway - it's not as if he's ever had a sexual relationship with any of them. They were always only ever travelling companions, not the Doctor's lovers.

Rose did make a humorous comment about the age difference at the start of AOL - I thought that was all that was needed, to be honest.

he sure seems to have a thing for teenage girls

and regarding the relationship with Rose and the Doctor... they shouldnt take it down the road of 'a couple'...
cross breeding between species. (babie timelord ? )

I think they should carry on that they do love each other but it a strong friendship not a sexual/relationship thing.

Wasn't Who VIII a human/timelord hybrid

Sarah Jane Smith wasn't a teenage girl, nor was Teegan or Liz Shaw either.

The age gap was brought up in "Aliens of London" by the police officer investigating Roses' "Disappearance" - though he though the Dr was in his 40s...

Yep in the 1996 tv movie the doctor states he's half human- I doubt they'd mention that again though as most die hard fans hated the idea more than rose hates sarah jane!

(It was felt they were pissing on 30 plus years of continuity to make the thing more commercial for america.)
