Hi,

Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice on how to get out of a contract with Orange.

I upgraded in August, and everything was fine, i've just rang up to see if i can get a better value contract as my bills are hitting the £100 mark, something i just can't afford at the moment.

Anyway... to cut a long story short it turns out that the contract i entered into in June/July 2004 had an 18 month limit to the 500 free texts, and these will be reduced to 150 from the end of Jan.

Now had i known this when i renewed my contract, i wouldn't have done it! it was never mentioned when i upgraded, i asked if i'd have 200 minutes and 500 texts still and was told "yes" not "yes until January"

Do i have a right to cancel? or at the very least keep my texts? It's much better value on Pay As you go, top up by £10 a month and get 1000 free texts and free evening calls to orange phones! bargain!

Help appreciated, rant over.

Thats werid. I was on Orange on the 500txt/200mins tarfrif a few years back. At the end of my original 12 months i got a letter saying that the package had been extended for life (well not uisng those the words but somthing similar). I think it says in the TOS that they end it after 12 months.

So to cut a long story short i think this reply has been kinda pointless.

It's now standard practice that the 500 texts only last 18 months. When you want an upgrade you have to ask for your PAC and when they ask why say that my 500 texts run out in 6 months, they will then give you the 500 texts for another 18 months.
I very much doubt they'll let you out of your contract now though.
