DHD4000 - strange remote behaviour

Something that seems to have just started happening with the remote for my DHD4000 ...... when the IR emitter on the remote is pointed directly at the receiver on the box, it doesn't act on most keypresses (perhaps only 1 in 10 actually make the red LED on the box flash and do what they're supposed to do). But if I point the remote slightly away from the direction of the box, so that it's not aimed directly at the IR receiver any more, the remote behaves normally again.

Anyone else experienced this?

Has the red transsmitter, which protrudes slightly above the RC casing got scuffed perhaps - I can't think of any other explanation.

Hi Garath 71, I have had exactly the same problem, I spoke to Thompson who knew nothing about the problem, it went on fro several more week untill I decided to investigate further, I proved the transmitter with an IR detector, and as returning the unit was not possibel (I upgraded the HD several months ago) I removed the case and the front panel, checked that the IR detector was clean & sound, chach

Hi Garath 71, I have had exactly the same problem, I spoke to Thompson who knew nothing about the problem, it went on for several more week untill I decided to investigate further, I proved the transmitter with an IR detector, and as returning the unit was not possible (I upgraded the HD several months ago) I removed the case and the front panel, checked that the IR detector was clean & sound, checked the opaque IR window was clean, made sure the window and the detector aligned O.K. then re-assembled. Bingo its been perfect ever since.
