Hi, new to all this. Read yesterday they are planning on resurrecting Richard Hillman!!!

Corrie killer back from the grave
We thought Dirty Den's resurrection was pretty damn preposterous - but now Corrie bosses are set to stretch our gullibility to breaking point by drawing up plans to bring evil serial killer Tricky Dicky back from the dead.

Viewers will see Sarah Platt open a birthday card from stepdad Richard Hillman, only to read the chilling words: "For my beautiful daughter. If your mother hadn't spoiled everything, we would still be together as a family. I look forward to the day we can be a family again. All my love, Richard."

The plot unfolds in February and in the following weeks Sarah and the rest of the family are left looking nervously over their shoulders - as well they might. Tricky Dicky was thought to have drowned after driving his family into a canal in 2003. At the time, a barely-recognisable body was fished out of the water and then buried. But scriptwriters have decided that the corpse could really have been that of a homeless vagrant, used by the villain to fake his own death.

Actor Brian Capron has not yet been approached about returning (talk about putting the cart before the horse), but a source confirmed: "His comeback is being discussed and anything could happen."

Has anyone else heard the same?

Yeah, this was mentioned a while back. Most people have come to the comclusion that it is a dirty trick by either David or Phil!

I'm not sure anymore. It seems really far fetched. Just the first time I read it. I think soaps need to leave dead people dead.

Maybe, the article did say they hadn't approached the actor yet. There has to be something wrong with Phil, he's with Gail and she alway seems to have bad luck!!!

I really can't see them bringing back Brian Capron. If Brian has any sense, he'll say no as it would lack credibility.

Plus, I can see, like many others, it will be a cruel prank being played on The Platts

This again?! There are spoilers up somewhere on here in a thread which actually state that it is a Corrie resident who has done this to Sarah, and that lots of them are up for suspicion...

A few of us decided that the likely candidate is either Phil or David trying to mess with Gail and the family for either his thesis or to split Gail and Phil up.

I really, really hope that this is not true. I am hoping that Corrie will be back on form in the New Year 2006 with Steve Frost as Executive Producer coming in and also the Emily Bishop, Eileen storyline. This kind of thing might actually make me sacrifice the Street altogether as I need to give up some TV.

I really really don't think it is true... it's the press hearing the basics of a story and jumping to conclusions... why would they announce the return of Hillman without Brian Capron having been approached... it's his name only that will be coming back.

The Emily storyline sounds brilliant and i'm really looking forward to it!

Me too. I really like Emily, but you never get to see her. And Eileen's a great character and really well played.

That scene she had with her neice this year talking about Ernest and his death was so brilliant and so well done. Cannot wait to see how Eileen Derbyshire handles the work with this story... the older cast in most soaps are so often overlooked in awards do's and stuff, but they more often than not make the scenes they're in.

If the plot starts to unfold in February, and Brian Capron hasn't even been approached, they can hardly be bringing Hillman back. They would have had to have the details (like approaching Brian Capron) finalised by now in order to know where the storyline is heading.

As others have said, I think 'the return of Hillman' is in name only - some kind of plot by either Phil or David.

Don't know why but she really got to me when she was in it, and I reckon she would make an excellent addition to the cast (especially with Norris) instead of the dead-wood twins and Kelly Crabtree.

Her and Norris together were comedy gold. The way Norris tried to "outsmart" her thinking she was a fraud by miming absolutely nothing was hysterical

Not only was that hysterical, but it was actually really clever comedy as opposed to the OTT stuff that The Street has been doing of late.

The bit I loved was in the Rovers, and she told Emily and Norris someone would be cheating on their partner that night... but couldn't tell who it was as she didn't gossip. Was such a clever thing to have her character do. The deafness wasn't an issue at all and they even gave her strengths with it.

Freda was a really good addition, and I would have thought there was an opportunity to bring her back during the next Emily saga. Surely they didn't introduce such a strong character only to sling her out again after a couple of weeks - so I do hope she will return.

Which is why no one outside the family would do it. They have to REASON to! No one hates them that much! And they've probably long forgotten Richard!

It's probably Demon, in his latest vile, desperate attempt to make Mummy dump the boyfriend.

Besides ... Brian is in 'Where the heart is'. No one seems to have mentioned that obvious obstacle!

Im not an insider at Corrie. But I did get some info from a regular director and commonsense has to play an element.
