Anyway - congratulations to John and Scott!

Obviously I don't know John and Scott personally and didn't actually know what sexuality John was/is.

But I would certainly like to thank John for bringing to us the most sensitive, caring and above all, fascinating Character to our screens that I've seen in years.

Some people didn't get the fact that the character wasn't gay or bisexual but instead came from a planet where he was the norm and that sexuality and/or sex wasn't the hang up that it is here on planet Earth.

I really can't thank him and the writing team enough for moving people forward 20 years instead of the backwards that we always get.

Truly outstanding for a drama - Out of this world for a drama aimed at all ages.

Thanks John - hope you and Scott find happiness

David Tennant probably isn't, but I don't know for sure. I'm sure someone knows. This isn't a dig at Russell T Davies, by the way, just in case you were wondering. I like him (not in that way...) and every show he's done has been fantastic. I was really pleased when it was first said that he was in charge of bringing back Doctor Who as it was someone with great talent.”

Well I saw John Barrowman on The Wright Stuff, whilst it was obvious he was gay on there, he was never that camp on Live and Kicking and seeing as I knew him from there, I never susepcted he was gay, it was possibly the arran jumpers he used to wear put me off the scent..

So whats the difference between a Gay actor being "promiscuous" and all those straight ones who sleep with anything in a skirt answer none, so why bring it up! What the guy does in his own time is nowt to do with us.
Oh and if they want to have have kids via some poor lassie, good for them. However it just confirms to me how unnatural gay relationships are, if they can't even procreate without outside intervention of some sort or other.

So, any couple whom can't conceive are "unnatural"?

Unnatural? Hmm, try telling that to the thousands of other species on this planet that have gay population.

16.6% of people in the UK are gay apparently (they finally did an offical count over the last few years). That's an awful lot of unnatural people.

big jump from Gay couples to any couple who cant conceive are unnatural. How did you manage that?

My brother and his wife cannot have children are they unnatural nope, unlucky yes.

What is bigoted about the fact that a same sex relations cannot naturally procreate? Its a simple statement of fact.
The fact that I think that it is therefore an unnatural union (when lets face it that is the whole biological purpose of the sex act) only follows from this. I don't doubt they love each other and they don't anybodies approval to continue but why they think they need children to fulfil this relationship just eludes me. After all my brother and his wife have not suddenly stopped loving each other since discovering they can't have children.

So 16% of the population are gay. Who cares? only those who seem to think gays and all other minorities seem to need some sort of "support" you know the type bleeding heart liberals and rent a campaign types with nowt better to do with their time. The gay people I know seem to manage quite well without it.

Anyway this is strayingfar to far from the original point of this thread. Capt Jack is probably my fave character from the 27 series of Dr Who and I can't wait for Torchwood or whatever the BBCcall it, should be excellent. Loved the Xmas special of Dr Who Rose is a babe so cool when she stood up to the bad guys reeling off all those other bad types she had met previously.

So, two people loving each other is somehow unnatural?

Netfreak, you criticise me for mentioning a little of John's past, then you finish your post with a major contradiction. I may be straight, but I fail to see what's unnatural about the practise. Each to their own and what is normal for them is what I say. Next you'll be telling us that people choose to be gay rather than have their genetics decide their sexuality on conception!

Well it's waaaay more complex than that.

I'm very pleased for the guy, he seems to be a genuinely nice person and I wish him every happiness with his husband.

Owww, he's so lovely (just rewatched the Lost Child last night on BBC Three only to see him!), bless him and anyone who's his love....
Just wonder why so many attractive guys (I mean intelligent, interesting intellectually not just good looking) are gay, that's unfair to us women! Think about Rupert Everett, just to name another one..............

Doesn't bisexuality mean that Captain Jack would sleep with either men or women, judging by some of the doctor's comments, he would sleep with man, woman or any alien species - do we have a word to describe that kind of person yet?

Omni-sexual

Omnisexual or pansexaul. That means he enjoys sexual interactions with all sentient species.

Of even not sentient: are droids sentient?

As a side note, went to see The Producers last night, and lo and behold there was John 'Captain Jack' Barrowman with blond hair as the lead singing stormtrooper. Check it out - he's got a cracking voice.

No, but getting someone else to have your child when you and your same sex partner cannot is. They choose to live an alternative lifestyle they should accept the fact that because they are of the same sex they cannot have children.
