Fairytale of New York 2005
I thought this had been discussed but cant see it around,so did anyone see Katie Melua and Pogues on CD UK doing this? I thought she did very well, sounded a lot like Kirsty McColl, but Shane ruined it as he is obviously brain damaged!! Loved the dance though! What a great singer Katie is.An totally hot!

No sorry i dont agree, thought she was very poor to be honest. The song needs someone strong to sing it, not her trying to be sweet.

What???? Didn't see them on CD UK but saw them on Jonathan Ross show and thought she was awful. Out of tune and, in my opinion, a very weak voice. They should have just re-released the original. |

Katie Melua really struggled with it on Jonathan Ross's show.

As Eliott256 says Cerys Matthews from Catatonia would have been much better i think. I haven't heard it but I think Melua's voice would be totally wrong for it.
The lyrics are really bitter and need someone who can deliver them with venom. |

How are Shane's teeth these days (if he still has any, he didn't seem to have many when they first made the record in 1987)

Shane must be totally feduddled these days if he thinks Katie Melua can come within a thousandth of the performance of the brilliant Kirsty McColl.
Cerys Matthews would have been perfect. |
