Ok, I learnt from a few posters from an American based message board that the first version of 'Dancing With the Stars' was popular there, and that was because it was aired during the summer - usually there aren't that many reality shows airing during summer ( apart from Big Brother)

But this time round, it is airing during primetime, and it will go head to head with Survivor starting from February. 'Dancing with the Stars' would have a month's head start, but once 'Survivor' starts airing on Feb. 4th , 'Dancing' would have a tough task ahead then, going against one of the most popular reality TV shows in America. 'Survivor' has a much larger fan base over there. Personally, I love both shows a lot, so if I was in America and I had to chose, it'll be hard

It's interesting for a Brit like me to hear of the success of Dancing with the Stars in the US of A. Thanks for that.

Courtesy of EyesOFire50 and Ruby Maarse - I have some good news! We will be able to see clips of the second series on the net!

Just check out http://www.auruba.demon.nl/dwts2.htm and you'll notice that the portraits of the latest competitors have now been added to Ruby's site.

Personally, I am thrilled to know that at least my dancing fix is going to be satiated with some super footage. I think the series starts next Thursday 5th January and, hopefully, the clips will make their way onto the net soon after!

[quote=EyesOFire50]Got another one!!

And since it is still the holiday season, I won't be selfish and keep this pressie to myself. *LOL* For those of you in need of a further "Strictly" fix...head on over to www.rubymaarse.com and click on the "Dancing With the Stars - Holland" link. There you will find each dance from Week One straight through the final in their entirety. Sure, the commentary is in Dutch, but who cares?!?

I've just been to the link (thank you) but couldn't get the dutch version to play - anyone know how to see wvx files?

They'll play very well in Real Player. just go to www.real.com and there is a free download for the player there. All you need to do is follow the directions and you'll be watching those videos in less than minutes.

Cheers!

Just an updated link in case you'd like to see Stacy Keibler practising with her dance partner Tony Dovolani. That'll be all two of you, including me, then.

Go to http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/stacykeibler/ and click on either "Watch" to see the video footage or "Read" to see an interview. Both items are situated under the heading "Stacy gets ready to Dance with the Stars".

Also check out Jim and Julie's Rumba. In the end it has a lift quite similar to the one James and Camilla did in the beginning of their Foxtrot during the Christmas Special In this clip it is easier to see how it's done. For all the none-believers out there: watch: 'no ropes' ”

It's also in Jonathan Roberts & Anna Trebunskaya foxtrot From US DWTS. It tok me a while to work out out it was done. i thought maybe his legs are holding her up. I thought it was such an original move until I saw James and Camilla and Jim and Julie do it

Have you read the American Forums?

They're a critical bunch! Not like us, ha ha.

Jerry Rice seems to be taking this pretty seriously. Judges' scores For Week 1 are here. Let's hope the proper dual-show format works in the States.

Apologies for the double post but there doesn't appear to be a delete option. I must have post instead of preview somewhere with the posting window staying open!

I read some of the comments posted for last night's show on an American forum which I frequent.

By skimming through the posts, I learnt that....
a) Carrie Ann Inaba, the Arlene Philips equivalent over there, is a jealous bitch, saving her kind comments only for the male contestants
b) Giselle Fernandez and Tia Carrera both did well
c) Master P, whoever he is, pulled a Quentin :lol
d) Tatum ONeal was under the influence of drugs during her performance

Hey, Quentin Wilson was Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly AND Ginger Rogers compared to Master P...at least Quentin showed some respect, both for his teacher and the art and TRIED. This guy did not.

Cheers!

Given Tatum's dance partner, isn't it more likely that she was in a bit of a *swoon*... (in the time-honoured traditions of these forums)

Haven't seen this twosome dance yet - but Nick... what a dancer!

Eyes - can you help. Keep trying to get into the USA dance clips and I can't get past a request to purchase a 14 day trial of RealPlayer plus (which I really don't want).

I already have RealPlayer on the laptop, and successfully installed the update (just in case) but to no avail.

Any thoughts!

It's a hit! But how will it do when Survivor is thrown into the mix?

Quote:
“The two-hour second-season premiere of ABC's Dancing With the Stars (minus CBS' Survivor in the competitive mix) lifted the network to an overall second-place 12.8/19 in the overnights, 17.33 million viewers and a 4.7/12 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m.”

My sincere apologies to Quentin Wilson. You're right....at least Quentin did try. This 'Master P' didn't even bother to try, from the sound of it.

eta : Gritty, how about right-clicking on the clips and selecting the play it under Real Player option?
