Recieved second hand Motorola V525 for xmas, sim card troubles

Here's the situation, I recieved a Motorola V525 phone for xmas, second hand from my mum. It's packaged with Vodafone, but the sim card I have on my old nokia phone is a payg O2 sim card. I've tried transfering this across to the V525 but when I do it asks for a sim pin (which is what I set it to on my old nokia, it works fine) but after that it asks for a Subsidy password. I have no idea what that is, where to get it, or if it's even possible to obtain one.

So that's basically the problem I have at the moment, if anyone can help. A few other queries I have are 1. is it possible to use an O2 sim card on a phone that seems to be endorsed by vodaphone live? 2. If not, how much is a payg vodafone sim card for this phone, where to get one, and is it possible to my O2 number over?

Thanks very muchly.

The subsidy code means that the phone is locked to vodafone so you need to either use a vodafone sim card or get the phone unlocked from vodafone

They might do it and yes they will charge you it would probably be better getting it done at a local shop that does mobile unlocking as it will be cheaper you will be probably talking around the £10 - £15 mark

Or alternativly buy a vodafone sim card

Try a local independant mobile phone shop, the type which offers a phone unlocking service. I have a Moto E550 which I recently had unlocked for £7.50.

It'd be easier to buy a new sim direct from vodafone for a couple of quid wouldn't it?

Then contact o2 to see if i can transfer my number to the new sim.

Thanks for the responses.

You could do that but then again you'd lose out on o2's better tarrifs.

But if you must, call up o2 and ask for your PAC code. Once they've given it to you, call up Voda's customer service and in 7 days your new number will be ported.

It should be FREE ive always been on contract and had the same number for about 10 years and this has been ported to a few networks its now back on vodafone 3G because they offer me the best tarrif and signal.

Currently this month according to my phone I have made 7hr30m (450Mins) but using stop the clock iv only been charged for 128.54mins (2hr8m)
