Trust 751B 5.1 Surround Sound Headphones
Saw these on QVC late last night and seemed to be very good. Noticed they are also on Amazon and a lot cheaper with free P&P. My only question about the product is how do you connect this to a DVD Player, Games Console or PC?
All my DVD Players have an Optical Digital Out or CoAx output for Surround sound and wonder if its possible to connect these headphones to my players? Fairly certain they'll connect to my PC as I already have a Trust 5.1 sound card fitted in that with all measures of connections and options. Can anyone shed any light on how to connect these to standard DVD players and Game consoles? |

Looking at the Trust website - the product you mention doesnt ahve any decoder built in and therefore it needs to be feed with an analogue 5.1 connection using 6 RCA connections. Most decent DVD players do have decoders built in and a set of 6 channel outputs but I think you would struggle with the likes of games consols (but I am not an expert on games)
Have you actually heard any surround sound headphones? I really would get yourself down to a "proper" hifi shop and listen to a set. Whilst I admitidally have a "decent" home cinema and therefore have probably higher expectations but when I listened to a much more expensive/ better brand set of these type of headphones I personally was very disappointed. |

As for the headphones they'll connect fine to my PCs 5.1 Trust Soundcard as having looked on the Trust site for all the connection methods. Also if I buy a Creative Labs decoder I can hook my DVD, Satellite, TV and Games console to it as it has a bunch of optical, coax and RCA connections and it will output fine to the headphones. The biggest problem for me is that I don't have a room large enough to get a proper 5.1 surround sound setup. I just wouldn't be able to get the speakers positioned or setup in a way that would enable me a true experience. In the future should I move accomodation and have a bigger space then I'll buy a proper set of speakers and subwoofer and do it the proper way. At the moment as I basically operate out of a small box bedroom the headphones will make a simple solution to my 5.1 needs. |

hence why I dont like terms such as "entry level" or "mid range" etc. At the end of the day if you are happy with what you have then thats all that matters. I am well aware that some people who are true audiophiles will consider my turntable to be "entry level" but I dont care it is a great turntable as far as I am concerned.
On the RCA point - I dont know Sony very well but the first one I looked at http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProdu...ory=DVD+Player does have 6 channel analogue output. Any player that does SACD will have them as well. Certainly the brands I would look at (Denon, Yamaha, Arcam etc all have them too). If they claim to do DD or DTS decoding they need to have the analogue outputs |
