Edge
Hi
Do any of the UK networks support EDGE. From looking on the internet it allows GPRS to work at near broadband speeds without being 3G. I know Virgin Mobile don't and when I emailed them about this they were going to look into it but it still doesn't work. If any of the other networks support this I may consider switching. Thanks Craig |

I didn't think they bothered to upgrade the UK network, I know Orange France was because of the time it would take them to get 100% 3G coverage, but there are no such problems in the UK & I thought they just went right for 3G.

I have used EDGE and it works pretty well. But thats on MTN SA.
I find it more reliable than 3G. Good luck! |

As far as I know EDGE is available on Orange but only from certain cell sites. It isn't being promoted by Orange as they want to people to join 3G. I dont have an EDGE phone so I cant confirm this. This has been talked about on uk.telecom.mobile:

How do you know that EDGE works? What are using to determine if you are using GPRS/EDGE/3G?
