Getting really fed up of waiting for the next update, Thomson have not answered my last email sent in November and I'm getting more and more frustrated with the wide screen bug

Anyone spoken to Thomson recently?

Hi,

the last time I spoke to them was around the end of November/beginning of December and they couldn't give me a date not even whether it was a matter of weeks or months.

What update? It might happen but I'm not not holding my breath.

There had been reports that they were working on it, and they said that it would be updated when I rang them up to ask about a fix for widescreen.

Personally, the longer it goes on with nothing appearing, the less likely I think they're going to do anything.

The last thing I heard from somebody at Thomson was that they are currently working on an update, but the testers keep finding more bugs, I’m sure that as soon as they have a stable update it will be released.

Would you rather wait and have an update that works or a rush job that introduces new bugs?

I would rather they fixed the little bugs with little patches as they find them. The widscreen bug has be around for neaarly a year.

I agree. This widescreen issue (along with the YLD) spoils a perfectly excellent PVR.

As a side issue, I haven't had a YLD since about August. Has the EPG corruptions gone?!

Not many of us left in the sweepstake now. I really thought we'd get one for Christmas. Excellent thread title, it made my heart skip a beat

I hadn't had one til i went away for Christmas, then when I came back it had on and not recorded all the Christmas programmes I set! Then went away for new year and the same thing. What's the point in a 14 day EPG if the box can't be left alone for more than a few days!

Under daily use the box has been (almost) faultless, I tend to get the occasional Christmas lights of death where every LED on the box lights up. It's only happened twice though and it's been whilst the unit was in use and playing back programmes so i was able to correct it straight away.

I was archiving the George Best night to my Pioneer DVD/HDD the other night and when I checked it on the Pioneer a box was displayed right over the Benfica match saying that new software was about to be downloaded and the box would go on standby. It didn't of course. Spoilt the match as I'd already deleted it off the Thompson! So I guess the download must be imminent?

Thats would probably be just the EPG download which happens nightly at 3am (ish)
