This is going to be a random thread, but it's about something that's been bugging me for hours: does anybody know the name of the song that was out some time in the nineties and sounded like a high-pitch remix of the Star Wars "Darth Vader" (Imperial March) theme? I'm sure it also had the line "when will i see you again" in.

Sorry i can't be more specific.

Don't know about the Star Wars bit as I can't stand the films, but perhaps the song is "When Will I See You Again" by The Three Degrees?

Clip here

Unfortunately not - which is the problem i am having when searching through lyrics sites. It was a more modern dance/rap type of song.

Have you got any more clues?

I've got that Darth Vader tune in my head, and trying to imagine it higher, but I'm not able to connect it to another song. I'm just hearing that theme tune that you mentioned.

Late nineties?
A Puff Daddy kind of thing?
Did it actually use the sample of that Darth Vader theme that you mentioned played a bit higher?

Hang on, it might be.....Has it got a 'Led Zeppelin' riff as a sample? A part of that sounds a bit like something close to what you described....sort of.
The video has some doves flying...'Come to me'?

It didn't sample the Darth Vader theme at all - it just sounded very much like the intro to this, but at a much higher pitch and played slightly differently. I'll have a look for the Led Zeppelin song now to see if that's the one - thanks.

Afraid it wasn't any of these. It was kind of like a high-pitched siren, but done to the tune of the "Darth Vader"/Imperial March, only greatly slowed down. I'm also fairly sure this was followed by a fairly dull/Jarvis Cocker type singer saying, in such a way as to pronounce each word with a distinctive gap "when will i see you again", which was then followed by the siren-like rendition of the "Darth Vader" theme tune.

I appoligise that i really can't describe this any better. Perhaps it might help if i perform a badly-done rendition of the sound, which i think was actually played on some form of violin: Download from here [58 KB, MP3]

Damn you rad, damn you!!! I was thinking this as I was reading down the thread and there you are, being all smart and getting there before me!!!

Tho the song doesn't contain the lyrics "When will I see you again" and I haven't listened to the bad rendition (at work and can't open the file)

Words cannot express how much i want to thank you both right now - that song has been doing my head in, but now it's mine! Mwhahahahahah.

If you ever need a person to... erm... code a webpage for you, or even stand as a Christmas tree in your living room, i'd be very happy to do so as a reward.

Glad to hear you found the song at last.

It does not in any part of the song have "when will I see you again". If only I had listened to your impression sooner, would I have known straight away what song it was.

I assume the intro of the song was the Star Warsy bit you were talking about.

I know the song doesn't have "when will I see you again" in now, but i could have swore i heard it in there. The intro is indeed the bit that sounds Star Warsy.

Back in the days when music was good...

Just thought I'd continue with the theme on this thread.
Doubt if anyone will be able to help, but, here goes.
There was a band on the 'This Morning' (think) show about 5 or so years ago. The singer had longish hair and the song had the lyrics
'I'd like to be a painter....'notes.. E E E D E G E
and the chorus just went oh la la la la la la .(no actual words)
It wasnt beaty, fast or poppy, more like a crowded house track.
The singer had quite a rough sounding voice.
My husband has just said ' don't get your hopes up!!'

If you're willing to embarrass yourself as i did and make your own rendition...
