Too early to say. Much will depend on what ITV schedule against it - Ant and Dec (?) - not to mention the weather.
Also don't think you can compare Christmas day figures with that of other days. I bet even green grass of home got higher figures than normal on Sunday!

Thanks for the figures - it is interesting to see them.

I don't suppose you have the audience shares, by any chance? Some of the later episodes were affected by lower audiences due to the good weather, so the figures on their own might look disappointing at first glance.

I'd be interested to know where Doctor Who came in the "whole year" ratings.

I'm sure I've seen things in previous years where the highest rated episodes for various series or serials were charted eg Doctor Who would be 10.4m against say Den's death in EE or whatever Corrie's highest rated ep was?

And lets not forget, towards the last half of the series we were entering the early Summer, and it was boiling - which is rare.
So yes, the weather did damage the ratings, but most of the time it was the most watched show of the evening.

It beat everything the 'other side' put up against it every week it was shown, once the final figures were in.

Whilst I do want Doctor Who to perform well in the ratings there is a danger of people becoming obsessed with them in the same way they did with series one. Would people have adopted the same smug attitude say if Ant and Dec had annihilated Who in the ratings..I think not. As long as it performs well, we get some great writing and acting and a great story arc to whip everyone up into a frenzy then surely that is all that matters.
