Philips DVD recorder problems

I have just bought a Philips DVDR 3305, everytime I try to make a recording when I press 'stop' it comes up "updating disc" and then "failed to stop recording"

any ideas what the problem is??

Update the firmware, probably a bug in the machine from the outset.

Try another type of disc, maybe the brand you are using disagrees with the Philips recorder.

what do you mean the firmware? btw i'm using Philips DVD+RWs as recommended in the user manual!

Firmware is the software inside the recorder that makes it work, like Windows on a PC. Check the Philips website and see if your recorder has a new firmware version available for download that might fix errors in the factory loaded firmware.
