selling a mobile phone on e-bay
I've just bought a new mobile phone and am selling my old one on ebay. I've cleared all my contacts out etc and I just assume that it's ok to sell it with the sim card installed for the new user to use.
Am I right in that? Thanks for any info. |

Yea you could sell it with sim card still in it if you like.
most prob the buyer will want to use their own anyway but it up to you. |

Thanks, I'm a bit slow when it comes to mobiles, I though a sim card might only be allowed to be used by the one who bought/registered the phone etc.

I can't now because the auction's already online advertised with the sim card and people have bid on it.
I don't really understand this locking/unlocking business. The phone I've just bought, they installed the sim card for me and they definitely locked the phone to the Vodaphone network. If somehow I got the phone unlocked, could I then use a sim card for any network say T-Mobile or Orange etc? What about the phone number and all the features I have on the phone, presumably those features would still be there but would the display be different and would the phone number be the same? It's a pay as you go top up phone. |

If you unlock the phone, you will be able to use it on any network
You will require a new SIM card from the new network if you want to change networks. You can keep your old number if you want - to do this contact your old network (whilst the old SIM is still active) and ask for a PAC - give that to the new network and the old telephone number will then work on your new network (after a few days usually) |

Hope its not a contract sim card... If so make sure the contract is cancellled...
Could be expensive otherwise. |

It's ok I don't intend to change, I'm just learning stuff as I go along. I have a pay as you go service but thanks for the info.

It was just a pay as you go top-up service, I didn't have any contract, just got the phone new, took it away in its box and installed the included sim card myself without registering anywhere so it should be ok to sell on to someone else.

I've bought 3 mobiles on ebay and none of them came with a simcard. Not a problem as far as I was concerned.
