Hi, I am about to buy a 32" LCD TV and ideally would locate it above my fireplace (gas flame effect) and use the alcove to the side of the fireplace to hide away all the seperates.

Has anyone done this and if so have they had any issues with the heat affecting the screen?

There are 2 reasons for wanting to do this;

1. The screen will be centrally placed rather than ina corner and will not require a swivelling mount.

2. The screen can actually rest on the mantelpiece as well as be secured by the wall mount. Belt and Braces I know but I don't want to have to try to claim on my insurance for a new TV if it falls of the wall

Thanks for any advice, Rob.

The heat above the frieplace is minor but nevertheless I was concerned.

Looks like it could be a case of suck it and see. The issue of the screen falling off the wall still bothers me though. Anyone had to claim for a replacment yet?

Rob.

Measure it, a Halfords multimeter with thermometer is about 15 quid, much less than the repair bill.
