Even though the bloody BBC announcers talked over the new music what did everyone think of it?

I personally like it. I miss that middle bit and not hearing it in the first broadcast of 'Rose' was a bit disappointing.

If it gets any faster we won't be able to hear it at all.

No, they can't make it any faster - there would be nothing for the announcer to talk over ....

The end theme put back in part of the theme that was missing with series 27 (series 1 revamp).

Tonights repeat on BBC 3 featured a clean end theme.

There was no on screen logo either.

Nearly Clean. Was very refreshing seeing BBC 3 without the on screen logo - it should be like that permanently - everybody knows what channel they are on!

As for the new theme music, its much more "orchestral and busy", but I'm still yet to decide as I've not heard a "full mix".

I think the BBC noticed all the comments that were made about the announcer talking over the theme tune so the BBC3 announcer talked as quick as he could.

If you go on the interactive episode, you can hear a lot of the new theme tune while waiting for the Episode to restart.

No it didn't - the announcer had to get in a plug for the interactive stuff

I love what Murray Gold has done with the theme music and incidental music in each ep but my only complaint is sometimes it does drown out the dialogue..though I suspect sometimes that is intended, especially when leaving us clues for next years storyarc.

I like the new theme music and am lucky enough to have a proper copy of it through a friend in the industry.

A shame that the Christmas day broadcast didn't give chance to hear the elongated closing theme properly. Very nicd to (kind-of) hear it, though.

Eh? Not on my TV it didn't. How did you manage to have it without the announcer?

The middle eight is back in, now all we've got to do is get DT's face in the opening titles, and get the closing title's reference changed to "The Doctor", rather than "Doctor Who", which is not the character's name!

Take another look at the credits for TCI!

Well spotted that man, I didn't notice it, I just assumed it was going to be the same as Season 1. Maybe my whinge about it some time ago (I'm sure I did before somewhere on this Forum) was noticed...

Now, if only we could get the BBC to scan a passport picture of DT...

I wouldn't be surprised if we go back to the version used in series 1 when the programme returns in the Spring. The credit thanking the Welsh orchestra suggested a special version of the theme for Christmas.

If so it's a shame in as much as I loved the return of the middle 8. I didn't however like the arrangement as a whole. The theme doesn't suit a full orchestral score IMO - I much preferred the series 1 arrangement.

You can hear (some of) it here

I always called that bit the 'anthem' part of the theme, but apparantly in the industry it's known as 'middle 8'.

When is the Doctor Who music (theme tune and season one intrumental music) being released? In the old days, they used to release an album every now and again with all of this on it.

I wouldn't mind a CD of Murray's music - I enjoyed the stuff he did for Casanova as well.

I still haven't got round to watchin that yet, Den! I'm sure you're right, though. It seems a bit of a missed opportunity not to release a CD.

I already have the full version which I got from a friend in the know - and it wasn't edited from the TV titles either. It's from the BBC master.
