I have to agree wholeheartedly. I miss the 'tinkley/sparkley' and 'wooshing' sound effects that heralded the Tardis, and Tom Baker's face, during the mid-seventies time-corridor title-sequence.
Still gives me shivers up and down my spine...and I'm going on 37!!!
I still think the mid '70's version is the scariest, in terms of sound; and it's possibly also the cleanest.
I think Murray Gold's versions are too orchestral. After all, the whole point of the theme tune is to be "other-worldly".
These modern versions don't seem to fit properly either.
Bring back Delia Derbyshire!
