England's first game in the World Cup is on Saturday 10th June. I wouldn't be surprised if the final episode of the series is on this date as well.

I emailed the BBC Information Dept about this and received a prompt reply which stated that NO transmission dates have been set. I was told that firm dates are only set 10-14 days in advance. However, I don't think there is cause for concern. It would be sheer lunacy to broadcast a flagship programme through the Summer, when not only would it lose viewers because of people going on holiday, etc, but it would also be messed around in the schedules due to the World Cup! I reckon it'll begin on the last Saturday in March, like last year.

Hurrah! Thanks for looking into that! Like you I thought it was going to be late March as not sure there would be room for it in the schedules in the summer what with so much going on.

excuse me if this has been mentioned already, but isnt Torchwood due to start in the summer? And as RTD has mentioned, the seeds for torchwood are set in season 2 of DW, so surely the new series must be before the summer.

I definately know that Spring starts on March 21st - Summer starts around the late May/ Early June period, Autumn comes mid-September, and Winter comes mid-November.
