I'm a newbie here and wonder if anyone can help me? Today I bought a CELLO R100LB DVD Recorder, connected it up - and it doesn't work!! All I get is a terrible noise and/or wobbly lines.

I don't have an external TV ariel so view all my channels through the NTL box, and previously have just hooked my NTL box and DVD player together using a SCART cable and that worked. However when I did the same thing with the recorder I just got a horrible noise.

I rang the helpline who very unhelpfully told me that it was because DVD recorders don't work with TV/VCR Combis (which I have) and that I'd have to return the recorder. Is this true, or am I doing something wrong?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this kind of stuff, but any help at all would be much appreciated.
