Hopefully there's a new album out in the near future. I've seen them live 4 times and they were a good live band, hopefully there should be some tours after the album's out.

I thought the single selection from the last album, 'Forever now' was poor though, 'Play me', 'Talking in your sleep' and especially 'Model friend' could have all been big hits.

Ive got their greatest hits cd which i listen to occasionally wouldnt say im hugely into them though but a good band

Decent 80's band who got a lot of undeserved stick from trendy types- 'Something About You' was a cracking pop song and 'Take A Look' was a sweet ballad.

I believe they are Helen Chamberlain's favourite band. Whether that contributes one iota to the thread I'm not sure but it's still better IMO than coming on here and saying they suck, I suppose . Mark King is one hell of a bass player, btw.

That'll probably because she's engaged to Nathan King (Mark's younger brother), who is also in the current line up of L42.

One of my fav bands of all time. "Its Over" sends shivers down my back every time I hear it. Great Band and yes Mark King is superb on the bass guitar. Some thumb he has!!!

Great band, 'It's Over' and 'Leaving Me Now' both make me blubber. And the bass playing on 'Running In The Family'

They were fantastic in the 80s...contrary to what a lot of critics would have us believe. I have their best of CD and DVD and so much of it still stands up well today.

My favourites were "Leaving me Now" and "To Be With You Again".

Not sure I would be so keen on them now...sometimes its best to have the memories of a band in their prime.

I agree. Being a 30+ Essex girl, they were extremely popular round these parts in the 80s and we saw them live several times.

I would hate to see them do a comeback tour or whatever and devalue the memories of a band whos music was the soundtrack to many of our lives.

He plays the bass for a 'very metal' band called Beecher, and is a big fan of Mark King.

bought the first Level 42 12" on Elite records, Love Meeting Love I seem to recall, Robbie V used to play it on his Radio London Saturday lunchtime show, their Polydor label mates Shakatak were also cool, their first 12" was a white label issued br Record Shack hence Shakatak, blimey thats a well anorakey reply, also saw them live at Croydon with my mate a certain Wesker fella who was working at Black Echoes at the time, before he went to Kiss, his Dads just been made a Knight aswell.

They've already been touring for the last few years, I've seen them a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it each occasion - I wouldn't worry too much about memories being devalued.

I saw them live a few years back and they were great. Did miss Mike Lindup though, he wasn't with them so i assume he left.

Mike Lindup is in the line up again. Saw them at the Albert Hall last October. Absolutely brilliant. The warm up wa great at well. Cant remember his name but he sang 'Thinking about your love' ....he was really very good.

Im afraid their early stuff beat the later stuff hands down - Heathrow was amazing. Im still addicted to Standing in the Light album and feel once the Gould brothers left they lost a hell of a lot.
