Signal Losses in cable runs

Hi All

How far can you run Audio,S-Video and Composite cables before you get any loss in signal?

I want to have my satellite equipment upstairs and vcr downstairs (for security) So I will be running Comp,Svid and Audio. Lengths will be around. All via and Video/audio distribution amp, but I undersatnd that all the amp does is give equal signals over the o/p.

Any advice will be welcome

Go to your local AV shop and speak nice to someone about this, I have heard about 5m before it needs boosted but then again I have heard 10m from someone else( neither were in AV fitment for a living).
