yeah, but at £500 for the box and an extra £10 a month I don't think there'll be too many early adopters

At £200 a box and free HD sub it's too cheap. My figures have as much accuracy as yours do until SKY officially announce prices ![]() SKY will sell every single SKY+ HD from the first batch, no question about that since there are plenty of people who have HC/AV gear worth thousands and HD hardware would probably be the cheapest component of their setup

Yeah SKY have allowed speculation and rumour to run riot and no doubt it's put off many who may never even consider HD this year having spent money elsewhere. I'll pass on the SKY+ and CRT, got myself a HD panel last year and well my 4 year old SKY+ keeps rolling along ![]() No question that for the mass market SKY+ HD and HD hardware in general will have to drop in price but we are not talking mass market, the initial supplies will be snapped up by those who have no money issues or consider HD a must have and have made the money avaliable from other areas

I suppose an HDTV with a link to my PC will have to do for now (as long as my ISP don't cap me, downloaded a few hundred gig this holiday period of HD stuff!) |

For arguments sake lets say £500 all in then the majority of the population could put their hands on that amount of cash and even more via credit. In reality someone spending £1000+ on a TV could be described as not having money issues. Even people with a decent PC and broadband have no money issues when it comes to that expenditure, they choose where to spend there disposable/entertainment income

That said it's not as bad as some of the ridiculous speculation posted as fact although the £500 STB price is probably a bit high. I think £300 is probably closer. Even so £500 isn't that much all things considered |

Once Sky One HD is beaming away - I hope that they repeat some of the earlier series shot in HD again - maybe Star Trek Enterprise, series one of Battlestar Galactica, etc etc.
I suppose a lot has to do with whether Sky bought HD copies of US series at the time or will have to re-purchase from US studios? Howard |

Well I think it's more like either £399 or £299 for Sky HD+ plus £10 extra sub. Sky's been doing the old extra £100 for the next upgrade in technology, first for Sky+ then for Sky+ 160 so why do you think the leapards going to change it's spots now and have a £200 to £300 price hike?
You've also got to take into account that Sky's now got competition with Telewest/NTL launching their HD with no charge for the box but a similar £10 monthly charge. |

I imagine the costs are the same whether they show HD versions or not so it would be a case of requesting HD tapes from the distributer if they exist. I think showing old episodes in HD would be a great idea and pretty cheap, I just hope they don't go too far and skim on newer programmes. Mainstays like ST:TNG and animation aren't available in HD so it'd be stuff that's 8 years old at worst. Angel and Buffy in HD would be sweet |

Well i just recived an email from Sky, about Sky HD. A simple survey asking you how much you'd be willing to pay for the HD service, options range from £10-19 and upwards. Also asked when you'd be likely to purchase the new Sky HD service, within the first month, first 3 months - 6 months and so on.
It also asked how much you'd be willing to pay for the Sky HD box itself. Several different options on that. £300-399 range is what i plucked for, seeing as the first Sky+ box was around that price range if memory serves me correctly. |

Had a couple of emails, one for the Robbie concert and a chance to view the EURO1080 Event broadcast at a swanky location and the other was promotion for a AV event where SKY were going to be showing HD, in theory ![]() When they finally release specs/prices then you'll know it. Half the posts saying it's the best thing since sliced bread and orders have been placed, the rest saying it's a rip off and HD isn't any good anyway

personally I'm not gonna jump on the HD band wagon straight away as I am looking at it from a point of view of its going to be expensive and the lack of HD channel choice I would probably end up jumpin on board in maybe a yrs time when there will be more channels and most likely be cheaper to buy

And the box cost ranged from under £100 to over £700. There were other figures, but i can't remember what they were. Those were the low and high end of the pricing choices. |
