Hi,

I'm trying to control my new Targa DVD Player with my pioneer vsx-c100 remote.

Do any of you know anything about Targa?

Is it a clone of any other make?

I don't normallybuy brands that I don't know but it was £19.99 and it has a card reader and DivX support!!

Im really just trying to find a remote code thatmight work.

The Targa is a DP-5100x.

A little bit of googling shows that Targa is a german PC manufacturer - though they have diversified a little into selling budget DVD players etc.

I would recommend contacting Pioneer and asking them what code to use if they dont know then find out what they would need to know (frequencies etc) Then contact Targa http://www.targa.co.uk/cms/targa_2_425.php and ask them the question of what code to use or if they dont know then is it a rebranded piece of equipment and who is the manufacturer, if itis an original build then finally ask the Qs pioneer told you to.

The Targa DP-5100x is a clone of the LG DF8900P sold by LG Australia, and it is compatible with LG DVD remote codes. Hope this helps.

I am running v1.38 of the DF8900P firmware on my Targa. The latest official Targa firmware is v1.36 (dated Feb 2005).

I also have one, but currently running v1.36 of the Targa firmware.

Are there any advantages to running v1.38 of the DF8900P firmware on my machine, and if so, is it available online.

Not sure about any obvious advantages, as I installed it just after I got my player. The most obvious difference is that the splash screen says LG instead of Targa.

I'll upload a copy to some web space if you want.
