Hey everyone.

I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I just bought a new LCD TV today. Overall i'm very pleased with it but i've run into a very small but annoying problem.

When using it with Freeview, to get the menus on the box and text on the guide to be sharp, I have to put the TV into "Sc-RGB" and the Fview box on "CVBS" mode.

The problem is, when I do this although the picture is clear it seems to be rather green. It's not terribly bad but it's noticeable and does spoil viewing. I have tried fiddling with contrast/brightness etc but I can't help but feel there's something I'm missing.

If I have the TV on "Sc-RGB" and the Freeview box on "RGB" the picture appears slightly blurred. It looks much better with the box on CVBS.

I'm not very technical so i'm hoping others here might be able to help.

Thanks a lot

Dan

P.S. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my multi-scart? I bought one because my LCD only has one scart socket and i'm planning on connecting a DVD player etc at a later date!

I'd try running the freeview tuner straight into the TV without the scart switcher for elimination purposes - if you get good results you'll have to try another scart box - it's not unknown for some cheaper switches to have problems passing RGB properly.

You are quite correct in trying to get an RGB copnnection, it should be much better than a composite feed.

Thanks Pete.

I followed your advice but even if I feed the Freeview direct to the TV the picture still seems to have the "green effect" on Sc-RGB/box on CVBS and is rather blurred and blocky on Sc-RGB/box on RGB.

Apparently there should be a way for me to alter the RGB but I can't find out how.

Any other advice? At the moment I've settled for blurry text etc with both my TV and set top box on RGB.

I've also noticed that with both on RGB the screen struggles to adjust itself with light colours.

The JCB video just came on TMF when I was flicking around on my Freeview box and the screen was virtually all white and I couldn't see the video at all. It also made my Freeview box menus completely unreadable. (They appear rather transparent on this mode, that's half the problem)

But then when I changed back to CVBS on the Freeview, I could see it fine, but with a greenish tint.

Any ideas?

Have you tried running the setup into a conventional CRT TV, it might be a duff LCD set?

If you tell us what make and model of LCD you've bought someone else with the same model might have some further (and more useful!) comments.

Pete.

Cheers again Pete.

It worked fine with my old CRT TV yes. It's a Bush. This is the LCD model I bought:

Anyway I found a way to change the image mode, and it's now set to "Vivid" which has improved the quality somewhat on RGB. Literally the only problem now is that it struggles to cope with light colours. The ABC1 idents for example look terrible and certain adverts looks really poor.

Please, anyone with more experience than me have any ideas?

Dan,

What kind of scart leads are you using? I had a similar problem a while ago, my picture didn't have the "green effect" but the colours all appeared dull. I changed all my scart leads to ones that were fully shielded OFC with gold connectors, solved the problem straight away.

You can get decent scarts without paying the earth for them (although the expensive ones are good) http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tv...XFT02-150.html these ones are decent enough.
