RDRHXD710 - VPS/PDC & Videoplus
MatOakley

All,

Many thanks for the excellent info on here that led me to buy the 710. My other research was to read the manual on Sony's website which said that you could use both VPC/PDC for timer recordings or enter the videoplus number - Having purchased the unit I see that the printed manual does not cover these....

Are these functions available?

TIA

The HX710 has a analogue tuner so it supports Video+, PDC etc.

The HXD710 only has a Freeview tuner so it uses the Freeview EPG so does not support PDC.

I've definately seen a 30minute programme extended to 31 minutes. i.e. you record something from 7.30pm til 8pm via the EPG and afterwards notice that you have a 31minute recording. Definitely seems to be some sort of Programme Delivery Control (PDC) going on.

I'm sure I've read that the 710/910 supports this either on this forum or from the printed manual. However, as mentioned in a previous thread, it doesn't guarantee the start or end of a programme might be cut short.
