Oh My God! EE is back to its excellent self, as confirmed by Jim Shelly!
http://www.mirror.co.uk/tvandfilm/shelleyvision/
and I quote: ''in a week of (mostly excellent) old skool-style EastEnders Christmas episodes'' although he said Nick Cotton is dead, but that's not true ![]() Those who read his coulumn over the past few year have seen nothing but bad reviews, he even once said that EE was going down the Brookside route, so thankfully everything is rosy, like we needed to be told

Probably not, she will probably give birth to the baby and then the scriptwriters will kill it off. Or she could have twins and they both die. Or even octuplets and then they all die, I wouldn't put it past the morbid scriptwriters.

I agree with him about not missing Alfie and Nana but missing Kat and Dennis.

I don't think I'll let a tabloid newspaper dictate what is good or not for me.

Why should anyone need confirmation from a newspaper tv critic to prove whether a soap is good or not? |

I don't know what Jim Shelley was watching, but it can't possibly have been the same episodes I watched. For me Eastenders was the same old depressing and groundless rubbish, full of character changes, ludicrous and hole ridden plots and tenuous links as to how they are going to finish the stories they have started; not to mention the exit of a further four characters, from an already dwindling cast.

Jim Shelley didn't like the Stacey/Jean storyline, which IMHO was one of the strongest and most character driven in recent years. That was very much "old-skool" EE.
EE is very "plot" oriented, yet it is at it's best when it is character driven, as exemplified in the "two-hander" episodes. The plot should serve the characters, not vice versa. |

I think Sharon might have a boy and call him Dennis! It would be nice if she could have the baby and be happy for once!

Yes I agree with everything you just said. It seems some of the Corrie fans on this board cannot take the recent success EastEnders has been having. |

This story had great potential; maybe there are plans to continue it, but I'm not holding my breath. Stacey visiting her mum, or to hear her mentioned on Christmas Day would have been good continuity, but I 've long given up on Eastenders improving their continuity; the 'hot potato' syndrome which plagues the Eastenders writing team is still rampant. |

You can't even enjoy EastEnders anymore because it makes you a teen? What's that all about then? I'm getting sick of all these statements that EastEnders is a soap aimed at teens. Yes it's likely to have more teen fans than the other two big soaps (which isn't a bad thing atall) but they're likely to have more younger kids watching because they're considered more family soaps so it works both ways in my opinion. There's no HARD evidence that teens make up the bulk of the EastEnders audience or that the programme is aimed at teens atall, how many teens are likely to appreciate the Armistice day episode or the episodes with Stacey and her mother? Very few I'd say!
