The Cybermen have awakened in our universe, and they've allied themselves with something from the Doctor's past...

does anyone know who or what that somthing is or have any ideas what it might be

Interesting suggestion LaGa. Very far out for the kiddies as the Daleks were reduced to dust but in this game all things are possible. Would personally like to see us go back and see the Time War. Perhaps events in this alternate reality that we see in these eps could be the trigger for the beginnings of the said war.

What do you think he was inferring Den? As far as we know there was only one thing lurking at the heart of the TARDIS.

I'm not entirely sure - shall we have some fun speculating?

1. The Master - in a controversial scene was last seen disappearing into the heart of the Tardis, accompanied by a loud burp.

So I suppose it could be him - although RTD has said a few times that it's too early to bring him back.

2. The Gelth - spoilers seem to suggest they are set to make a return in series two. The Doctor defeated them as they attempted to cross over via the rift - weren't they dwelling in the vortex in some way, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

The only problem I have with the Gelth hitching a ride aboard the Doctor's body is that they manifested as blue light rather than golden when they appeared to us.

3. I can't help thinking about a point you made during series one, i.e. that a race as poweful as the timelords would have had some kind of disaster recovery or backup plan in the event that their race was destroyed. Makes perfect sense to me.

When Rose 'turned the Daleks into dust', it might be possible that she was sending them into the Time Vortex - where the Daleks fly around and get out at various points in Time and Space (ie the Dalek in Episode 6 'came out of the sky like a meteorite in the 60s and spent ages in its crater screaming.')

That is why I was never really convinced by this last of the time lords cobblers. I mean too much emphasis was placed on it during series one that in many ways I felt as if they were deliberately making this point and leading us all into a false sense of security regarding this piece of information.

The Doctor thought he had destroyed The Daleks and yet they returned by falling through time so what is there to say that the Time Lords did not survive in some shape or form or that a race so powerful didn't have a back up plan.

Lets see what the dear old Face of Boe has got to say for himself when we see them in ep 1.

as im 16 i only started watching doctor who last year so i was just wondering have any other timelords actually ever appeared in any of the old episodes?

A good episode to watch the Time Lords in action is The Deadly Assassin which sadly is only available on VHS. There is The Five Doctors which is on DVD as well as The Three Doctors.

will definatly try get hold of these episodes.im guessing in the end of thoses episodes the other timelords die.am i right?

Afraid not! We haven't seen the last great Time War on screen at all. It was mentioned in series one by Chris Ecclestones Doctor when he explained to Rose what happened to his people. It again cropped up throughout the series, especially in the Dalek episodes.

I'd like him to use the skateboard/extrapolator, which as the Slitheen got from somewhere unexplained, and is superior technolgy, is actually Dalek in origin, The sort of thing that enables them to leviiate and provides a force field for them.

We are all hoping so too! Imagine what that would look like on screen after what we saw on screen with the Daleks in Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways.

Going back to the original post - do we know where OG got this information from? This is the only place where there has been any word of the Cybermen returning AFAIK. I can't help feeling that we're all expecting two Cybermen stories this year just because there were two Dalek stories last year.

Anyway, time will tell I suppose. The last time a synopsis mentioned "something from the Doctor's past" it turned out to be Margaret Blaine so it could very well turn out to be someone like Cassandra or the Geith.

Or the Slitheen again!

Well, they do seem to turn up a lot!

Just a personal opinion but I could easily live without seeing them again for a couple of series.
