Best Corrie mum - past and present
Who would you consider to be the best Corrie mum either now or in the past.
I think its interesting that there are parallel storylines going on at the moment with Gail and Sally both dealing with teen problems. Gail racked with guilt and Sally wanting what she perceives as the best for her daughter. The only mothers who seem to have a decent relationship with their chlidren is Bev and Liz. |

Of the current crop - probably Eileen.
She always seems to try her best for her sons. |

Sally is a good mum but she's also a bad mum because she's not always made wise decisions over the years.
Is this just about the relationships the mother has with the child Polly? If not I think Deidre is a good mum because no matter what she still forgives Tracy and accepts her for who she is even knowing that she sold her own granddaughter to the Croppers. Deidre knows what Tracy is like but always seems to stand by her, I know that they have fallen out numerous times but Deidre's always prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt and accept her again after she's done something wrong. |

I guess you guys are right about Eileen. I remember now how she got into debt so Todd could go to Uni.

Yep, I'd say Eileen too. She could no doubt throttle Jason at times but, no matter what he has done in the past (and in the present), she has always stuck by him and been supportive. The same goes for Todd too, especially when he came out. Eileen's "the queer's mother" speech was fab!
They've had their ups and downs as a family but Eileen has always pulled them through it. Laura xx |

I've always thought Eileen was a great mum since the stuff with Todd in 2004, she handled it all so well

I think Claire is doing a good job with Josh!
sweet natured girl I think Hayley would make a good mother, it's quite a shame they didn't explore the fostering thing more. But of course Eileen is a good mother to at least one of her sons

Which, of course, is where Todd was forced to sleep in 2004 after he came out and Jason refused to share a room with HIM!

Eileen - no contest. Although she handles her sons very differently, she's a good mum to both. Look at how she handled Jason splitting up with Violet. Yes she told him what she thought, but she was still there to give him a cuddle when he needed it.
The other person would be Janice Batterby. Btw, I'm surprised she doesn't lord it over the likes of Sally and Gail that her daughter has actually made it to uni! |
