Neither!
Stick to the good old CRT...I have seen both in various shops and the pictures range from not bad to bloody appalling!! They are not too bad on cartoons etc, but get a fast moving football match on and forget it, blocky and picture smearing are the norm. The only one that comes close for me are the Panasonic Viera range. I'm sticking with my good old CRT for now at least. |

This old chestnut.
This is a very personel subject we are venturing into here, so here goes. If you are after a screen which is larger than 37" buy Plasma. At this size Plasma still has the edge in terms of colour rendition and detail without the "smudgyness" of LCD on standard definiton. I am not sure why Plasma are better at SD on a large screen versus LCD (technicaly speaking) and I dont care much either: Is it maybe to do with plasma is an older technology and has time to mature, or is it plasma has a higher response rate? I am buggered if I know. LCD on the otherhand is great if you want to use it as a Xbox 360 display; because you dont get screen burn, but they only are passable with SD (using CRT as bench mark) LCD are great on HD footage but plasma* is still better. (*Pioneer's current range of PDP's, the best screens money can buy for flat panel display) For me it has to be plasma because it is a great allrounder. Very good with SD digital but stunning with HD, but if size is your consideration, i.e not 37" and above, it has to be LCD. Look at Sharp's current line-up and Toshiba. Both are Stacked with awards at excellent prices. Happy New year and all that jazz

According to a Daily times article a couple of weeks ago Plasma’s are going to be phased out, apparently it was a flawed technology to begin with, and at the rate LCD’s are improving and getting cheaper, by the end of this year I think buying a plasma will be a wrong decision
