We have a Sony HX900 DVD Recorder. We use to be able to record (while watching) a digital programme.

The last few weeks we have tried to tape a programme but we only have the sound and no picture.

I have checked with my children that they have not tampered with it, but as far as we know the cables are connected correctly. We were even able to tape the programme with subtitles which was usefull.

We have a Sony Television with Freeview.

Can anyone please tell me where I am going wrong?

If nothing has been changed, settings etc. I would try re-seating the Scart cables. I have had sound with no picture when the scart at the back of my pace Sat. box needed pushing in.

The cable did not look out of its connector, but as the lead is thick and heavy I suppose it slightly moved.

I would turn all things off before touching.
