Not my cup of tea, but They have done very well , so good luck to them. If they make lot of people happy, so what if they do cover versions.

It's not the fact that they do cover versions - it's the fact that they do cover versions of anthems (I mean, Bohemian Rhapsond?!?! ) and turn them into something my nanna would like...

Well maybe your nanna has better taste than you!

But that's the point of modern pop music - to be bland and to appeal to a wide range of people who want music in the background while they do something else.

Isn't that a little arrogant. It's not your taste so your nanna isn't allowed to like it either

Music is very diverse and not everyone will like what you like. Your own taste in music will change over the years and there will come a time when you cringe at some of the noise you call 'music' now. Other artists and their music will stay among your favourites but there will be some that you will be embarrassed to admit liking.

Ask your mum if she was a Bay City Rollers fan?

I'm not really talking about music taste. The thing with my nanna was just "something I said", not being serious.

I am more annoyed at them covering classics, which, in my opinion, shouldn't be done. If they came out with their own stuff, then fair enough, but Bohemian Rhapsody, Life on Mars, Barcelona, Yellow etc. - all songs which shouldn't be covered! I'm not even a queen fan, but their stuff is their stuff only.

(My mum was a punk in her earlier days, btw )

They may produce covers on their albums, but you have to remember that they DO write their own songs, why they are not on the albums is in fact beyond me, I feel they should be. But I like G4 and have no problems with the covers they do. I would like to see some more classical covers, along the lines of Au Fond Du Temple Saint.

So would a lot of their fans but their management isn't yet sufficiently certain how many!
I think it is quite sad to hear the way some people sneer at them. Thankfully there are a lot more open minded enough to properly listen and then enjoy! The range in age of their 'fans' is quite amazing as can be seen at concerts - male and female aged from about five to eighty five or more.
Can't wait for the next tour to come

Brian May doesn't agree with you. He shows his support for them on his website. www.brianmay.com Check out the news for November 2005 and you'll find he is promoting their dvd & cd and TV appearances.

That's like saying no one apart from Shakespeare can perform his plays.

I don't have a problem with anyone doing covers of anything - it's all a matter of differing interpretations.

That said I'd rather listen to two tom cats fighting at 2 in the morning than listen to G4.

Brian May is only interested in the royalties he will get from it. He should invest those royalties in a new haircut, and i don't believe in 30+ years he has changed it.

Normally, wailing cat noises are cats doing the deed rather than fighting. Either way, it beats listening to G4, yet another lazy band from an era of music spearheaded by reality TV and weak ballads.

I was about to say that Brian May will promote them because he'll get royalties from their stuff.

Shakespeare wrote his plays for other people to perform them.

Again, I am not talking about taste in music. If you like G4's style, then you like it. I just disagree with them covering such songs. It seems to be working for them, though, but the music industry is a bit of a mess anyway. Perhaps they should do their own stuff and get the royalties from it...

It wasn't eligible for the charts which was a shame as it seems to have sold well. Apparently you are not allowed to put any kind of a 'sticker' in with the disk and some of them
had one inside which was just a picture like the one on the front of the case.

It was also only available in a limited number of outlets - mainly HMV and Virgin plus some online outlets.

They all read and write music, play several instruments and do all their own musical arangements. After the next tour in May/June maybe they will have time to start writing some of their own songs. I'm perfectly happy either way especially at their !ive concerts which are superb entertainment ”

Er no, Another Day isnt an original G4 song, but i still think that they are very talented and can sing better than a lot of these so called "popstars" today......

I think people that criticize them are just scared of liking something thats a bit different and would rather play it safe and like all the bland same-old pop rubbish thats out at the moment...

Well, G4 had two top ten albums. They will continue to tour this year.

I have both albums.

You are wrong -'Another Day' is a new song written for G4.
It is a first attempt by the songwriters who previously worked on adverts and similar jobs.
When the album first came out there was a lot of discussion about the song on the fansites and Goran, one of the writers, came on site to discuss the song and confirm that it was an original.
