I own a Panasonic DMR-HS2 deck that I've owned for a little over 3 years. When I first bought it, I had no trouble burning DVD-Rs, but here lately, some of the discs I've burned have had problems. I tried to play them on a portable Panasonic DVD player that I have and the player had trouble playing the disc midway, and sometimes toward the beginning of the disc. The player eventually just quit playing the disc and I had a blank screen. I took one of these discs that I was having trouble with and put it into the DMR, and the deck had trouble reading it. Finally it just gave up and the whole deck shut off. When I turned the power switch back on, the display showed that it was in recovery mode.
I've since quit trying to burn DVD-Rs with this deck. I also want to point out that the deck has no problem at all recording onto DVD-RAM discs, which is the only other kind of disc this deck uses besides the hard drive. If I have a program I want to save, I have to use a DVD-RAM disc.
Is this a problem that I can correct myself by just using a lense cleaning disc, or do I need to take it to a qualified service man? Thanks for any replies.
