signal quality problem with 9200

Hi Guys,

I received my humax 9200.

Anyway I replaced my old freeview box with this new PVR.

I have tried to do manual & automatic installation but I'm getting no signal quality reading ?

The signal strength is about 75 - 80 % on most mux's.
I know my aerial & fly lead is fine becuase my other box works good, Also I have tested both of these with my rover TD5 meter.

I'm I doing some thing wrong here ?

If anyone could please help.

Thanks

Hi,
I was a bit thrown by the fact that you had no signal quality. If you plug in your previous STB does it set up OK and you can see all the channels - just wondering by freak chance something has happened in the short space of time between exchanging them.

If you go thrugh the whole setup routine again on the Humax perhaps it will be OK.

Do you get no signal quality on any channel/are there any channels that you can see?

Is the ariel feed going directly to the Humax before anything else - and can you try disconncting the pass-through ariel cable that may be going from the box to the TV or DVD recorder etc.

Sorry if this sounds obvious and you done this already! You may have a faulty machine/tuner.

Thanks for your help here mate.

Yea my other freewview box works fine.

I have tried inputting all the different mux's in Manually & I still got no signal quality & all of them.

So when I scan for channels it doesn't pick anything up at all.

My aerial comes from a loft box / amp.

I think your right, that I have a faulty machine/tuner

I know this sounds stupid, but if you've got a loft amp I assume you're in a strong signal area. The Humax allegedly has a very sensitive tuner so it might be worth taking the amp out of the mix and see what happens.

It's highly unlikely it'll help but it might be worth a go before you schlep back to the shop

I live in an area where. according to the post code checker. I can't get Freeview. However with a high-gain aerial i get perfect reception with the Humax. Given that it is good with a weak signal I'm inclined to think that you've got a dud box

Just a thought billynw:

if you publish the name of the company you bought it from here and let them know that you are sharing their customer service responses with the readers of digital spy, you just might get a better result.

I don't know how widely read this forum is but it can't hurt to advertise the might of the potential Digital Spy consumer base!

Power to the purchaser!

Good Luck,
