Richard 'Soapstar Superstar' or Shayne
Sorry to start yet another 'X versus Y' thread, but for the select few watching Soapstar Superstar I was interested to see how you think Richard Fleeshman would compare against Shayne Ward.
Just for the record although Shayne wasn't my favourite act on X Factor he was certainly in my top three and I was not at all disappointed that he won - I could appreciate that he had the winning combination of looks, voice and stage presence. Although 'Superstar' as a show isn't anywhere near as good I have to say I've been really impressed with three of the contestants (Richard, Roxanne and Andy). Personally I think Richard, if he hadn't already been a soap demi-god would have won X Factor over Shayne - I'll give you my reasons later if anyone's remotely interested.Any views??? |

Well they are both from Manchester you know!
As a competition it's near impossible to compare. I would say the X factor contestants were better singers but then their acting is probably rubbish eh? Horses for courses I reckon. Imho Richard is loads better looking and has bags more charisma than Shayne though technically his voice is not as strong. There again to me Shayne has no feeling in his performances anyway so I'd rather listen to the less technically perfect Andrew Whyment, Richard Fleeshman and Lee Otway. |

Richard no question. I love him in a way that is quite unhealthy for a woman of my age.

They are both very good-looking and have good voices, although Shayne's voice is more powerful and he has a better range.
It's hard to believe Richard Fleeshman is only 16. He looks about 20. I'm *ahem* much older than him, but think he is mighty fine for a teenage lad!

![]() But there's something that tells me that we're not alone on this one. Poor Richard it must be quite daunting to know you are the subject of such a wave of mature female lus...*ahem* admiration.

I think Richard has amazing vocals and stage presence for a 16 year old and he is not a bit full of himself, I don't believe he even knows how good he is.
Looks don't really come into it for me, although I don't really consider Shayne good looking, but I think Richard is a very good looking boy who must have loads of adoring fans young and a bit older if this thread is anything to go by. I don't lust after either Shayne or Richard though ![]() In the vocals department I believe Richard without a doubt outshines Shayne who's vocals I don't think are anything special to be honest. Stage presence, both Richard and Shayne have this in abundance. Out of Richard and Shayne, Richard would be my choice of being the better vocally of the two ![]() However my favourite is Andy/Kirky, although I know he is not a better singer than Richard, I would still like to see him in the final line up with Richard

Is Richard the boy who appeared on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes singing a Will Young song?
Although he wasn't really like him, he has a good voice and is very cute! |

Richard is outstanding. I have only been watching snippets of the show when CBB is on a break, but I have been very impressed with him.
Shayne had a great voice, but I think Richard edges it. He oozes charisma, and he's not bad looking either, which some have mentioned already. Although, I'm only 20, it still feels a bit wrong to lust after a 16 year old, so I'm trying to just focus on his voice I also think Lee is really good, but he just doesn't look right. He looks very uncomfortable on stage, but when you close your eyes, he sounds brilliant. None of them can touch Richard, though. He really is in a league of his own. Undoubtedly, X factor was miles better, with much better singers, but I really don't think Richard would have been out of place on the show, and could have given Shayne a run for his money. |

Richard has more talent in his little finger than Shayne will ever have.
I cannot believe how good Richard is & only 16. It makes the X Factor winner look 3rd rate. I do like Andy W.[Kirky too.] They both have super tones to their voices. The songs that have been selected for Richard have been fabulous. There really is no excuse as to why X Factor judges & coaches choose such lousy material for their acts. Each evening I look forward to Richard & 'Kirky's performances. If Simon & Co.had said that Richard could be the next 'Robbie',that I could believe. |

What does strike me as odd is that the soap stars only have a day to cram a new song (I strongly suspect they have longer notice of the possibilitites though, maybe even from the start) and generally get songs that really suit their style.
The X factor acts had all week and still got duff choices! |

I remember an interview with Shobna a few weeks ago, and she said they had 22 songs each to rehearse, so they must have practiced all the choices beforehand. |
