Since Santa failed miserably this year (NO season one box set, NO remote control Dalek, NO sonic screwdriver) I went out and bought the box set myself.

I haven't watched any of it just yet - but a couple of questions:

There seem to be plenty of extras, which are the best?
Are there any hidden extras/easter eggs I should look out for?
Why isn't there any commentary from Christopher Ecclestone?
Is the 'Captain Jack butt shot' restored in all its glory in the Bad Wolf episode or is it the edited BBC1 version?

Cheers, Paul

Sadly no Capt Jack's naked butt shot boo!!Don't know about any Easter eggs but the best commentaries on there are Empty Child/The Doctor Dances with John Barrowman and Stephen Moffatt. Hilarious. Parting of the Ways one with John, Billie and Julie Gardner is good too. Santa didn't bring me a remote control Dalek either. Had to buy my own hmmpphh. Oh and I wonder if the TARDIS shaped box set is actually limited. In my local Virgin records they've only got one which is like any normal slipcase boxset now.

I was a little disappointed with the extras, but some of the commentaries are really good, especially those mentioned, along with Bad Wolf with JG, RTD and JG.

Thinking of buying this also, play.com seems to be the cheapest I can find so far, cd-wow.com had it listed for £30 but it seems to have dissappeared off their stock list

1934?! You mean there is another 29 years of lost episodes?!

I bought the single DVD's as they came out, or rather the wife did so we won't be buying the box set, not unless I can persuade the her to get it by buying her the odd bunch of flowers of course. Father Christmas let me down as well. I asked for a remote controlled Dalek (or a Billy Piper, whatever was easiest) - he never delivered.

Have boxsets like these appeared elsewhere yet? I want to buy the boxset, but don't want a great big tardis cluttering the shelf! Would definately buy a normal slipcase edition (provided it contains the same disks etc!). Have been considering waiting for the Region 1 edition for this reason!

They're the display cases I'm afraid - they still give you that impractical packaging.

Oh and The Deleted scenes should be on the next season release- they lost them and had to re-digitise them (Just in case you were wondering why there aren't any deleted scenes on the boxset).

The region 1 release has been delayed from its February date.
Remember that the episode WW3 plays with 3 minutes missing if you select it on its own,but plays correctly using the PLAY ALL option.
I wonder when corrected discs will be offered

They already have been.

Sets bought in the shops now should have the corrected version.

Borders have got their own version of the boxset out now which is a flatpack version of the big TARDIS. Noticed someone buying only t'other day and it is cheaper than the bigger version.

Are the BBC replacing the faulty discs for the people who have already bought the boxset?

Waaa, what fault?

My boyfriend bought the box set for my birthday from amazon in November. Is this glitch when the DVD goes screwy and jumps? I can't remember what episode it was in but it was like it was scratched (it wasn't - I checked)

What should I do, is it too late to replace?

I saw an advert for another remote-controlled Dalek and a remote-controlled Davros too. The dalek is black and the design is a bit more stylised (I think it may be from one of the Peter Cushing films) and the remote control is like a police box. Is that made by the same company?

No - the classic series Daleks and other Toys are made by PRODUCT ENTERPRISE

The new series stuff is made by CHaracter Options.

It's World War 3 that's missing a few minutes - but it's only missing them if you access it via episode selection.

IT IS THERE IF YOU DO IT VIA PLAY ALL.

Has anyone else's box decided to fall apart completely, its just sat on the top of a bookcase and hasn't been touched for a few weeks, and all the sides have detached!
