Anyone love Cyndi Lauper? I do, she is my favourite singer of all time. I think she is a real inspiration and is absolutely brilliant, writes all her own songs and plays alot of her own instruments and I wish that she was still as hugely popular here, I think she's far better than anything Britney has ever done!

Do you love Cyndi, whats your favourite song? Write back anybody!!!

I think she's great too. True Colours is my favourite but I like Time After Time as well.

I'm Gonne Be Strong contains probably the most powerful female vocals I have ever heard.. amazing singer with an absolutely huge back catalogue... much more than her singles and commercial songs would let you believe...

Yes I've loved her for years. Saw her in concert in 1995 and she was fab. Very hard to pick a favourite song but it would be probably be Time After Time (and she did one of my favourite Christmas songs - Feels Like Christmas).

Anyone buy the Body Acoustic yet? I love it its great.

I discovered Cyndi in 1995 ( although I already knew of her) when she released Hey Now and her greatest hits, the awesome Twelve Deadly Cyns and not long after I got alot of her albums but am missing the Christmas album. Loved her image on the cover of Twelve Deadly Cyns with the red bowler hat and the yellow hair

I Love Cyndi and one of my favourite songs (I'm not sure I can pick just 1 song) is Sally's Pigeons from 'Hat Full of Stars'. She is an amazing song writer and has an amazing voice. She is very under-rated and I doubt she will ever sore to those heady heights she reached back in the early 80s hey day.

I have the Body Acoustic Dual CD which is brilliant. I just wish she would get on and release a whole new body of work instead of just reworking all her old songs (although I do like the new songs on the Body Acoustic album)

Yeah I agree. I love Above These Clouds its great. She and Madonna first emerged at the same time and at first it was Cyndi who was more successful, (she won the Grammy for Best Newcomer and beat Madonna) but I would like to see her become really successful and popular (I know she still is) as she was in the 80s/ early 90s, because Madonna is still really successful.

I hate sometimes when I read about Cyndi and she is classedas an 80's superstar - she did have hits in the 90's - Hey Now, Who Let In The Rain and That's What I think as well as her greatest hits - Twelve Deadly Cyns And Then Some....

I was there in 1984 loving Girls and Time After Time. I was gutted that She Bop failed to reach the top 40 and then a few others didn't do that well. True Colors is truly amazing and I also love I'm Gonna Be Strong after buying the greatest hits package. I then bought the back catalogue of CDs from Ebay and discovered such gems as Iko Iko. Always in Madonna's shadow, but a unique star of our time. The TOTP clip for Girls was also on TOTP2 recently - the one where she walks into the crowd.

atkins - you've got me thinking there. I only ever bought I drove all night but I always admired her greatly (I was just too much into U2 to fully appreciate a lot of stuff) so I might just go back and review her back catalogue.

Sally's Pigeons is one of my all time favourite songs. Just stunning. Was it ever released as a single anywhere??

Count me in as a fan of Cyndi's razor blade voice. 'Hymn to Love' from At Last is just amazing, and I also agree about Im gonna be Strong. And A Hatful of Stars. And I Drove All Night. And The World Is Stone...Who Let In the Rain..The Calm Inside the Storm...Witness...Maybe He'll Know (that always reminds me of Grease for some reason).

And the bit in Money Changes Everything when she sings "They say we'll be your friends/We'll stick with you till the end/Ah but everybody's only looking out for themselves/And you say well, who can you trust."

Only dud album was IMO A Night To Remember. Just couldnt get into that one.

oh too much good stuff to mention. Im off to have a listen again.

And - she is so blinkin beautiful with a wicked sense of humour.

Is she really now 52? Cripes!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and Goonies R Good Enough (which she apparently hates!) will always remind me of being a kid, those long summers out playing on the fields, by the lakes, having contests on my Commodore 64 with my friends... summer holidays moring tv... ahh great days!

Always wondered why she never released the Goonies R Good Enough over here in the UK?

I liked the song from it being on the movie, remember going with my friends to see it about 10 times at the cinema, 20 years ago now

Have read countless times that she apparently detests that song though.

I agree - I Drove All Night is definitely one of her best and one of her best videos. For me personally I love Cyndi running up the highway in Las Vegas I presume, in her red dress and her cruella devil esque hair style - legend or what!

Wots ur favourite Cyndi Lauper video - I quite like Hey Now but also like I Drove All Night (that red dress and the highway - absolutely brilliant) and I also liked Sally's Pigeons video. Sounds strange but before I ever saw the video for Sally's Pigeons I had imagined something similar to what looks like - I suppose that's just how good a song it is.
