How good are Cassette Adapter's
hi, i am looking to get a Cassette Adapter so i can play cd's in my car via the stereo.
I was just wondering how good they are, i know they have been avaliable for quite a number of years so they must be half decent, but has anyone on here used one and what did you think, thanks

I can't see the point in using these anymore due to the low cost of car CD players.
I have used one a long time ago and they work fine but cables everywhere got on my nerves. |

They're pretty good if you haven't got a CD player.
You can definately tell the difference in sound quality. But remember to turn off your portable CD player when you leave the car! |

For two quid you can't really go wrong.
I still use mine with my MP3 player in the car. I have a multi-changer in the boot but the head unit has a tape deck as standard and I still had the adapter lying around from the old days of the mini so thought I might as well use it. Quality is perfectly acceptable .... especially for two quid.

They often have 'dummy' tape hubs in them joined together by a small gear in between them - you might find that this makes an annoying clicking or rattling noise in some tape players, in which case it should be possible to remove the screws, take the adaptor apart and remove them. Beware though, the reason that they are there in the first place is that some players will automatically stop the tape if they detect that one hub is turning when the other one isn't, if this is the case you'll need to put the hubs back in again.

Or how about one of those gadgets which plugs into the earphone socket of your MP3 player (or CD walkman or whatever) and puts out a VHF signal your radio can tune in to?

right, ordered it on sunday night off amazon, got it today at around 9:30 AM so about 36 hours in total, not bad
.I found that there was less sound comming out of the right side than there was from the left and when i pushed the tape up slightly while in the player the volume increased on that side, to compensate i just adjusted my balance slightly. The sound quality is pretty good, especially for £1.99, p+p was £4:50 which was a bit pricy but i looked for one on comets website (or curry's, i cant remember) and it was about £15 new pluse £5 for p+p so i have saved quite a bit ![]() I noticed a piece of film over the head in the tape that looks like it can be peeled off but it doesnt say anything in the instructions so i have left it, overall a good product for the money and very pleased with the fast delivery
