After Alice’s scan is assessed, she is informed that the baby is in distress and she will need a caesarean section. Aware of the risks of caesarean birth, a frightened Alice urges Lisa to contact Sam. Alice is fetched to go to theatre but with no sign of Sam she spills her heart to Lisa, telling her that if something should happen to her she has to tell Sam how much she loves him and that he must be strong for their son. As Alice is being taken into theatre will Sam get to his expectant wife in time?

Elsewhere, Danny confronts Dawn over her desire to throw Jo’s birthday party at the house rather than the pub, believing Scott wants it at home so he can spend time with Dawn. Dawn states that it’s because she’s skint but Danny doesn’t believe her. Scott pushes the boat out by buying champagne but Danny can’t stand seeing Scott worming his way in and storms out to the pub instead.

Meanwhile, Chas arrives home from hospital and is touched by the effort everyone has made, but she quickly spots Del and demands to know why she is there. Amid the chaos, Lisa calls and reports that Alice is about to give birth.

This new vet - what's that accent? I can't place it. Do I detect an Irish twang? Anyone know?

Yes, he's Irish. Odd, I was asking where he'd disappeared to last night and up he pops today.

Loving the Chas scenes...

Why is Alice fretting about getting married before the baby is born. They could have done that months ago

When she has the baby. Lets hope they don't leave the baby's hat inside.

The Alice / Sam baby is so badly written and acted - there is no veiwer connection there and as far as im concerned I wouldnt be bothered if Alice and the baby died. Boring Boring Boring. The actress who playes her is awful.

saw the people who play Sam and Alice on GMTV the other morning - it was so weird to hear them talking 'properly' - sorry its the only word I can think to describe it!

James, what do you mean there is no viewer connection. A lot of viewers have praised everything about this storyline. Don't speak for the rest of us.

I think Ursula Marsden's a smashing actress, I've really warmed to the character of Alice lately. Shame I can't say the same about Sam, dull as ever. Talking of dull - who gives a stuff about Yawn's party? Zzzzzzz

I thought the scene between Paddy, Toni and Hari was pure class, though. Also Toni and Louise sidling over to the other side of the bar at Tom King's mention of workmen!

I like Delilah, but really wouldn't want her to end up with Carl. Bit of a charmer but not really a nice bloke - he's better suited to Chas.

Danny and Paddy must be the two most annoying and boring people in soap. At least Paddy no longer has that silly hair style

Still no sign of Spike or the Sugdens

If I run the village pub I doubt if I would be lending glasses to a private party

Alice and Sam must be destroyed.

Nice to have Chas back properly. Loved Shadrach's line about Alice drawing plenty of child benefit if she was going to have 10 babies like Gladys the pig

Hope everything turns out well for Sam and Alice

It was kind of dull tonight, but not down to anyone in particular. The Sam/Alice stuff is fine...Ursula Marsden is a great actress. Sam however is irritating.

Toni is fab, such a fun, bubbly character. Hari also quite promising.

Basically agree with everything Hellwelly said!

Shadrach and Belle were the highlight of the Dingles, some cracking lines tonight.
Now I do love Chas, and the feud with Del certainly has legs, but at the moment it seems to be one-sided...think we'll probably learn more about these two in time.

It's a shame that tonight's moving and fantastically acted Sam/Alice scenes were ruined by the 'blah' Danny/Dawn/Scott-ness.

The thing is with Dawn I'm not sure if it's a case of her being a crap actress, or if it is down to poor "storylines" she's given.

I wonder the same about Danny as well. The stuff he's given to do I canimagine him finding it difficult to whip up any enthusiasm.

On the other hand, perhaps it's because Yand D are such bad actors that we feel this way about them. In Scott's case I think he can act, I've just got fed up of all the stuff surrounding him tbh.

Julia Mallam (Dawn) is a good actress, I liked her during her first year.

Danny I think would struggle with anything remotely challenging to act out.

But they are just boring characters...will never understand why Danny survived his family's axe 4 years ago, and Dawn has been turned into a moany old cow. I know they are trying to be realistic with the "young mother struggling" aspect, but they don't need to make her so irritating...impossible to feel anything positive about her.

Whilst I wouldn't like to see Alice and the baby die (and I don't think you do either) I have to agree with you about the extremely poor storyline. We should be blowing our noses and sobbing into our hankerchiefs but frankly it's like watching wet cardboard get wetter.
