9200T - Auto return to Stand-by?
Victor Delta
11-01-2006
Don't know if anyone has raised this before?

Because the Humax 9200T doesn't have a red LED on the front indicating when it is on, my family are constantly leaving it switched on (by accident). Presumably over time this will add to the wear of the hard disk?

Is the Humax programmed to return to stand-by after no activity for, say, several hours? If not, could I suggest this please as another future feature please?

Of course, it would need to be a user selectable option (both on/off, and the period of time involved) and would complement the existing 'Power Off' facility which can operate (only) at a fixed time.

Well I normally switch it off at night before going to be if I am last up. The hard drive a computer I sometimes use is probably 6 or 7 years old - and they are probably as (if not more) reliable now. What I used to have set is for the box to put itself in standby every night at 01:00 and to turn itself on every morning at 06:30. I was even able to tell the Humax to tune to cbeebies when it switched itself on in the morning - regardess of what channel was on when it went into standby.

I think you can set up this whole thing in Menu>Installation> if i am not mistaken. Setting this at times to suit you/family may resolve the'we forgot to switch off the box' issue.

Thanks Marc.

Yes I agree, hard disks are more reliable now but in a computer the hard disk is not being written to all the time as (I presume) it is in the Humax when switched on (for the buffer).

Secondly, unfortunately I have a problem with it being left switched on after breakfast time viewing and then at the end of the evening too!

How can you not know when it's on?, the name of the channel is displayed when it's switched on.
