The price of the twin tuner Humax is around the £200 mark.
It's been very successful, so will the price drop to around £150-£170 after a few more months or will it be around £200 for at least the next 12 months?

My thinking is that there will be no pressure to reduce the price while it is still flying off the shelves in the high street and online at the current price point

I have sky+,and i might cancel sky.
A humax is what i would get, but paying £200 for it i might as well keep sky for a bit longer until the price comes down.

Prices in this (western part of the) world are generally set by supply and demand. As long as there's strong demand what is the incentive for the various retailers trying to undercut one another in a price war or to try and dump stagnant stock?

Won't the £200 Humax pay for itself in under 12 months if you switch from Sky+ anyway?

The fusions are in your price bracket though so why not ditch sky+ anyway!! Go on you know it makes sense

Yes if you are technically minded get the Fusion... I have both and I really love my 8000T BUT the FVRT100 has a lot of support in the DF group where the 'Data Extraction' thread is very popular, you can also get 'improved' backdrops for the default screens (I've tried it myself when I got fed up waiting for an upgrade from 1.63 s/w) and it works perfectly... The data extraction is fun to play with also.... Shame the Hummy is not so easy to extract data from???? - It would liven these forums up considerably!!

Comet was selling the Humax 9200T at £199 just after christmas, John Lewis and some others dropped their prices instore to compete. John Lewis and Curyys online have never dropped to £199 = always £229.
Comet, John Lewis & Currys instore are now at £229 and have been for meny days now.
Looks like for now the price is stuck above £200, atleast until their are more supplies in = comet, currys, john lewis, hughes and others have no stock online. I no most comet stores are out of stock to, atleast in my area.

Prices of electronics have been falling and falling and I can see a sub £100 model being common come next Christmas. I think the circa £200 Humax 9200-T will stay for a while as it is the model in demand and many places have a waiting list. I found it hard to get my hands on one. I guess how low they can go depends on the price of components.
