I agree. After 37 years it's very sad to see her shunned into the background.

Both Betty and Rita deserve storylines.

There'll be a hotpot shortage crisis which should give her her storyline of the decade

Considering she's 86 this year, I wonder if the actress actually wants the stresses of a major storyline, at a guess it probably suits her to be more of the 'wallpaper' of Corrie (and I mean that in a good way) then one of the major stars.

They are going to have to give Betty, Rita and Emily a good storyline (not necessarily an arduous one) soon, cos it wont be long before they are all leaving the soap.

And that's not from an official source, that is just plain biology.

The soap is going to be light on older cast members soon, so that had better send them out with a bang (tho not literaly, that could be the end of them!)

maybe they should all be put in a nursing home, with mike and blanche thrown in. They could have a spin off show based on that, maybe comedy. There could be the odd cameo, like Deirdre coming to visit.

I would love to see Rita get a really meaty story like the days of Alan Bradley.

At her age, I suspect that she is happy being an occasional speaking extra

Wasn't there a rumour Rita was going to
Spoiler
It's what was going around ages ago, but then it seemed to be forgotten.

When me and my friend went to Blackpool in the summer we were scared we might get "Alan Bradleyed" by the trams lol. Speaking of which I think the street is well overdue a visit to Blackpool

She probably the best actress in Soap and she hardly appears! Granted, she is in her mid-eighties, but she still should have storylines until Betty Driver retires.

I cant beleive that she is in her eighties - she is a game old bird!! They must feed them something good up in Corrie land - look at Ken (in his 70s)
