EPG not updated over last 2 week

Boooooo!

Came to put my programs in for tomorrow only to find there is no EPG after midnight tonight!

I can't receive Ftn & the hits as they have a crappy signal, I think these are on Mux D which is where the EPG comes from, guess this is likely to be the problem?

My signal comes from Sutton Coldfield and the suggested aerial is a standard log however this is what I have already although it is some years old.

Would there be a problem getting on the aerials designed for weak signal areas (the ones with all the little arms), I've been told that the ones from Wilkcos are ok so I might get one of them tomorrow.

Many thanks,

Moo

You could start with a £10 signal booster from Argos. For one of my STBs that was at the end of a long aerial cable run I got one of these and it did the trick to access the weak muxes reliably.

You do of course need reliable mux D reception to get the EPG data.

You could also do a proper job and replace the old aerial with a new digital type with a balun, and replace the old coaxial feeder cable with SAT TV grade coax. This should give a bettter signal and also reduce impulse interference.

We pick up the Sutton Coldfield signal from South Coventry. According to the Freeview site we are not in a reception area. Had to upgrade to a taller pole, high gain antennae and a 4 way masthead booster though.

We now get a really strong signal on all channels.

How far are you from the transmitter - there was a good post with some links showing the terrain between you and the transmitter but can't find it at the mo

Not far, think it's no more than 5 miles.

I've purchased a new aerial & I am going to redo the wiring to from the loft to my room, it's a straight run down so it shouldn't be too hard.....

If you are using a loft aerial, consider moving outside. Even if its at the same height as it would be in the loft you should see an improvement in signal. A bit more height (to clear the local rooftops) would be better.

Try to keep the feeder cable to a single run (i.e. no joins) from the aerial to the Thomson box. These will all help to reduce losses and help you get a better signal.

Good luck,

I had to move my aerial outside (due to a loft insulation project) and it gave me a 10-15% boost in signal strenght. The loft aerial was a high gain wideband, the outside aerial is a medium gain wideband....

Installed the new aerial in the loft yesterday and everything is working perfectly now! EPG updated last night as it should!

Thanks for the assistance!
