I thought that's why Sci-fi probably passed on the series initially.

Still, this is great news.
Yeah, I think you know the channel and its audience better than I do, but isn't 9pm a good slot? Don't know about Friday though.

Deadly serious? I take it you haven't ever seen SG1 or Atlantis?

Enjoying both of them a lot at the moment, but both have at least as much humour as Doctor Who.

Yeah, 9pm is 'primetime' in the US so it really couldn't get a better slot.

As Den said, that's primetime in the US. However, it could also have something to do with what Histeria said:
I'm, on that note, rather unsure as to how middle America will take to Captain Jack Harkness.

Given how middle America has taken to Brokeback Mountain I wonder how they will take to Capt Jack and the not so subtle references regarding his sexuality.

Well, since the programme is going to be aired after the watershed they can hardly complain that it corrupts young children. Anyway, I think it was done subtly enough. It's not as if Jack had Rose and the Doctor over the tardis console, is it?

I'm not rising to that one, BG.

What amazes me is how much more everything needs to be signposted for the US market as opposed to the UK one. They'll probably not even get the subtleties of the Cap'n being bisexual until he kisses both Rose and the Doctor in the final story.

They will most probably just think that the British are eccentric as they always do and slightly queer..not in that sense of the word.

It's strange, but in US comedies it's quite common to portray gay men as either British or Canadian.

Well guys - it's payback time.
