Alex was the real winner, no doubt about it!! Since the week Spencer and him were up, it was obvious Alex was going to win, so CH4 and Endemol, did everything in their power to make him look bad and push up Jonny's image. For weeks we got, whinger, part of scheming duo, bitching, clothes horse, gangly morose model. Jonny got loveable fireman, caring housemate, comedian. This was from their own news items on their website!! Late at night Jonny and Kate enjoyed a good bitch, was it mentioned? no!! The campaign against Alex worked, I know a few people who watched the odd CH4 show, who had made their minds up that he was a whinger. They didn't see his funny moments, which a lot of us saw on E4. I also think the campaign for Jade took a lot of Alex votes away.
CH4 did not show half of the things Kate & Jonny got up to, now it's clear why.....they wanted either a first female winner or a BB devotee to win.

BB is finished, I hope Endemol and CH4 are happy with the millions they've raked in, I think they have shot themselves in the foot, come next year, I doubt if they'll get even half of the viewers. They made what was a good reality show in 1 & 2 into a complete farce. The poll on here says it all really Alex had 43% of the vote, where Jonny had less than 10%, this was for people who saw the real picture on E4 and weren't manipulated by the CH4 show. We have been cheated and taken for mugs, I bloody spent a fortune, so did my Mum, brothers and quite a few friends!! Goodbye BB you've left a very bad taste in my mouth!!

Agree wholeheartedly AHA - its not about being a sore loser, but if it had always been so cut and dry about who would win BB, as it was when Alex beat Spencer, then C4 wouldnt have made half as much money.

Never mind. In our hearts, the real winner was crowned the week of the Spanky V Alex vote.

I also think a big influence was the type of people Alex fans were - he didnt appeal to the masses, because he was unique and eccentric. But he'll always have a special place in my heart.

I even feel much better this morning - enough to say, well done Kate. She won, by whatever means, so I guess for that she should be congratulated.

No..the real winner was Kate. Hint, she was the last one in the house and got nearly 1 million votes more than the 2nd place person.
I watched E4 alot, and, although I liked Alex , I dont think he put enough into the BB experience.

I'd have loved to have seen Jade win it, because she made this years BB, but im happy Kate won, cos she also put a lot into this years BB, and I found her very entertaining and honest.

I agree, I was actually pleased Kate won, what I cant get my head round, is the fact Jonny came second.

In a way I disagree. I think a greater majority of the British public saw Alex as the star, but are not fans of the show to the extent where they would bother to vote.

Kate and Jonny appealed to the less discerning viewer that is more likely to vote and this was reflected in the overall result.

A relatively small percentage of the population actually voted and I don't think this gives a very good indication of the popularity of the housemates.

I hope you do complain, it will give someone at Channel 4 a chance to laugh at you down the phone. It's a game. The winner is the one who played it best. If you spent 'a fortune' on calls and then choose to bleat about the outcome then more fool you.

The thing I didn't like about this BB, was how things were reported about events in the house. Instead of reporting things in the way that they happened, they chose to put their own slant on things, and the official site was incredibly guilty of it. One example, was when Adele and Alex were talking about the other HM's. The official slant was, 'Alex and Adele having yet another bitching session'. While, at the same time, in the lounge area, Jonny, Kate and PJ were doing exactly the same, and near enough saying the same things about other HM's. The official slant was, 'They were having a conversation about the other HM's'.

Even on the E4 ticker, it was cheeky, chappy Jonny, or whinging/moaning model Alex. The press were much to blame as well for taking this line. Take the Sun the other day. They wanted to use the quote, 'Kate is the whore of the house' but, as it was Jade that said it, they couldn't use it in it's proper context. They changed it to Alex saying it. When it was Jade who originally said that to him and Sandy. It can't be too much to ask, for the press and especially the official site, to report things correctly, and give every HM a fair crack of the whip instead of putting their own slant on things.

I liked Alex a lot but in the end he didn’t want to win. His speech and apparent disdain for the whole thing cost him votes. Whether it cost him enough votes for him to have won we’ll never know but I personally think if he himself had shown a bit more desire to win then he could well have done so.

Jade came fourth, in spite of massive media backing during the last few weeks.(and I so wanted her to win!).
However, Kate deserves it, shes a worthy winner imo.
and im a complete BB addict, I watched it on e4 interactive almost continusly during my free time, and came to the conclusion that Alex is a nice guy, but didnt enter into the spirit of BB enough. thats imo, is why he lost. (so I find myself in aggrement with Straker on THAT one!! )

The majority of the type of BB fans that actually voted weren't perceptive enough to see through the blatant playing up to the camera by Jonny and Kate. They weren't able to see that Alex was the star and Jonny and Kate had very little to their true characters. Jonny and Kate showed very little of themselves other than the false persona they wished to portray to win votes and, in general, the sort of person that votes in BB is gullible enough to buy it.

Ok Benson, and what were your opinions of Jade then?. (who came fourth).

I think you'll find yourself included in that laugh - we were all sucked into this farcical show. We got hooked again on the strength that BB1 & BB2 were so good - this was just a show of control, exploitation and fleecing the public for every last penny.

You've said that Alex didn't get into the 'spirit of BB'. Exactly what is the 'spirit of BB'? I see BB as a case of individuals from ALL walks of life entering the house and being themselves. It's more a case of how they as individuals confront the incarceration that they face in the 9 weeks.

Jonny seems to still stick by his belief, that the Jonny we saw in the first 2 weeks was the real him. So, now he'll have to be the jovial joker all the time. 'Cos everytime now, that anyone meets him, they're going to expect to see jovial Jonny with his one legged dance, not the 'poke them in the chest, and nut 'em if they piss me off' Jonny. I'm waiting with baited breath for the first tabloid headlines telling us that he's got into a bust up and nutted someone after he was asked to do his 'party tricks' for the hundreth time. Which he should have no problem with, as that is the real Jonny.

BB entertainment to me is: getting to know the characters as individuals, their strengths and weaknesses, how they interact with one another and how they overcome conflict and difficulty - After this poor offering it now seems it is a talent show - wish I'd known earlier!

Its over - forget about it. What the point of declaring that Alex should have been the "real" winner when he did not win in the end. He's got the Brycreem contract and as far as he is concerned a "dream" date with Tara Palmer What's Her Face , and possibly Adele, so maybe he came out of it better than Kate or Jonny. After all who is going to give Jonny a job now?

I too wanted Alex to win but admit that the last weeks he became withdrawn and moany (not all the time but as portrayed on Ch 4 nightly program). He got really annoyed at being up with eviction that week with Tim which made him loose it. He was mad that Kate had voted him instead of Jade because he was beginning to like Kate and he thought she liked him.

If he'd kept up the same behaviour in the house as the first weeks, like when he beat Spencer then he would have had more chance. It's a shame but Alex did shoot himself in the foot.

Kate was okay, she seemed a nice person and she did encourage the others. But she is too bland for my liking.

I think that if Spencer and alex hadn't been up against each other and both had stayed Kate would have been voted out by us all sooner. I think we'd have grown tired of her hanging onto Spencer all the time.

Jade was fortunate to be in at the end. Interference from that Myagi guy, some clever editting and a media frenzy all contributed to Jade making the fnal week.

She is loud, brash and seems poorly educated, but some of the nation took her into their heart, myself included. We saw many facets of Jade's character and I think this is one of her endearing features.

After some of her atrocious behaviour did she deserve to make it to the last four? No, I don't think she did, but lover her or hate her she was an invaluable source of entertainment and I can see why Endemol/Ch4 wanted her to stay.

It's about time you gave up and accepted defeat. Face it you were wrong. Alex was not the star of the show. He may have been your favourite but he wasn't the public's favourite.
